Savvy move by the Dodgers bringing the Twins in and having to deal only 1 good prospect.

Still a pathetic deal by the Sox.

Y’all are really underestimating Verdugo

Once mookie walks in a year and Verdugo is a 5-6 win player in Boston, the narrative will change

There will be more players involved in the Joc Pederson-Luis Rengifo trade between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Angels should it pass medical reviews, sources tell ESPN.

apparently a major league starter to the angles and another angel prospect to the dodgers is still going to happen

Well he’s expendable for the Dodgers considering the talent from the top through the minors

If he gets the 683 plate appearances that Betts has averaged, hitting in those AL east parks and in front of some combo JD, Devers, or XB, he’s going to put up numbers. Good defender.

Betts was the same kinda guy coming up. They both have the hardest part down, which is the hit tool. Betts built off of it and developed the pop to go with it

he has a very strong arm. his athleticism is not great and im iffy on his long term defense

which i guess is true. i honestly dont remember what mookies profile coming up was. but verdugo by and large outplayed his true talent stats this past year. think is wOBA was a full 10 points higher than his xwOBA. i dont love his profile but thats a personal thing. hes very good at what he does well, but i just dont really like the stuff he does

i personally believe hes a high floor, low ceiling player. 4 WARish guy which is very valuable at this point in his career obviously

That’s fair. Sox should’ve gotten another piece imo, but I think verdugo has a higher ceiling than you may think. Either way the Sox will have some nice young offensive talents under control for awhile. I don’t think this is the end of the world for them

And they will clear Price’s contract. Who is to say they don’t make a run at Betts in FA

and i want to clarify what i said earlier. its not that im not high on verdugo. ive just wanted the dodger to sell high on him before he may have a drop off in value that i kinda think is going to happen

i think what the red sox got is kinda light but its hard to complain too much when they get an interesting top 100 guy and a fine major league rookie for one year of betts. they probably should have gotten more for how much of price they are paying but it is what it is

And fwiw, rumors about Verdugo's immaturity and hot dog antics have plagued him thorughout his minor league career. Typically I hate to trade prospects, but I'm fine with trading Verdugo (not techincally a prospect, but he's only 23)

and the whole situation that went down with him and his minor league teammates which he has miraculously been able to keep out of the limelight

I always worried about off the field issues with him. Kind of like with Andrew Toles

My god. This might be one of the biggest trade rapes in all of baseball. This is a black eye for the Red Sox and the league. Not a fan of either team but I can’t imagine being a Sox fan right now.

So frustrating as a red Sox fan. The red Sox are a big market team. You don't get rid of one of the best players in baseball who is still very young because he is going to be expensive to re-sign.

If you do, you better do better than this. What a joke.
