Not fielding a punt with the national title on the line is wild.

In case you don't know, his comments about NIL these days, South Dakota State just lost their head coach and their team got gutted by the FBS with 24 transfers. Here at South Dakota, we were lucky enough to only lose our OC and a handful of transfers, one of them our conference defensive player of the year.

He knows the vultures are already swirling to pick the Bison apart. I'm sure some of his guys have been contacted already. I know during South Dakota's playoff run, our guys were getting contacted to transfer.

Hate to see the Jackrabbits gutted like that!

Yeah dumb NO Punt Returner back there!

QBs ran the ball well....
Cam Miller 17 carries 118 Yards Rushing 2 TDs ..200 yards passing 2 TDs

Tommy Mellott 14 carries 135 Yards Rushing 1 TD...195 yards passing 2 TDs

10 Championships in 15 years; NDSU is the UCLlA of FCS.

Unreal...a 1 point loss to power South Dakota and a TD loss to Colorado.

This was Montana State’s best chance to win a championship since they last won it in 84 and still couldn’t get it done, and I fear they won’t unless the two Dakota teams somehow get the FBS call.

Just left the game. Tough one for the state of Montana. They have an excellent foundation, and qb’s (at the FCS level) want to play for Coach Vigen. He coached Josh Allen and Carson Wentz.

I think they will be back for many more years. Vigen signed a 4 year deal, and MSU’s AD is a rock star.

That sounds devastating for SDSU. NIL is garbage.

Montana State made two highly questionable calls in big spots:

(1) At the end of the first half, attempting 4th and 5 at midfield instead of punting, likely ensuring starting second half down 14-3 instead of 21-3 (NDSU scored a TD right before half). Montana State got the ball to start the second half and scored a TD. Very likely would have been 14-10 early 3rd quarter.
(2) Not having a return man on the final play of the game. I guess the coach didn't learn from Oklahoma's similar failure at the end of the 2003(4) BCS Championship against LSU.

To me, that’s what lost the game for Montana State, and they figured out late in the second half that you can beat NDSU through the air, but by then it was too late. Give the Bison 21 pts and it’s good night.

Taco Dowler, the best returner in the FCS, may as well been placed on a milk carton.
