There’s no way it happens just due to the fact that they’ve said the players would be isolated from their families for up to 4 1/2 months.

You have to weigh that vs getting paid their full salaries as opposed to a very small percent if there is no season.

Seriously how many Astros posts have you or your West Coast Aggie friend started or, more annoyingly, hijacked other posts to talk about the Astros in last 4 months?

You tell me man, you pop up in every thread I start or post I make on the subject.

I do it as a troll job more than anything else. You seem to be getting legitimately upset about it therefore fueling my posts on the topic.

Can we focus back on the logistics and feasibility of this Arizona plan? No one gives two fricks about the Astros right now. I think everyone just wants to baseball played

I just have no idea how hard they were gonna be hit. If they actually were gonna be treated like repeat offenders then they probably get the nod. But everything I read up to that said it was gonna be less. But we will never know I guess

Its getting more and more obvious the american people as a whole are in such great fear they dont want full return to normalcy until there are ZERO cases of covid-19

Which, isnt really feasible

It’s not really the American people. Going out in public, the citizens are handling it fairly well. Social media casts a whole different picture though that I see a lot of people getting sucked into. It’s simply not real life,

The ones that are fearful are the big entities like MLB being on the hook for someone getting sick & potentially dying. Or a government leader giving the Ok to return to normal activity, only to see another large breakout. No one wants to be liable for that.

I don't know if we see this plan executed, but my guess is they work on something over the next couple weeks and come out with a plan that's probably very similar that has a tentative June start for official games.

Might need a lot of luck, but it's possible it works with the ramp up of same day quicker testing (if the tests are effective), and figuring out which treatments work the best.

There's no way this happens. MLB is going to get a ton of pushback from the panic minded "the whole world is going to die if we step one toe outside" Facebook crowd and they'll cave to pressure. For instance, retweeted by Buster Olney this morning...

Ok now what about the non-millionaire hotel workers, security staff, grounds crews, media members, team traveling staffs, clubhouse attendants, janitorial workers, food service workers, and the billion other people required to make that 3.5 hour game happen every night?

*let me clarify that I really want baseball back. But not if it’s not done safely, not if it requires sacrifices like this from people who make minimum wage, and not if it means redirecting badly needed medical and testing supplies away from the public and to a sports league.

Beyond that, this may "solve" the MLB problem but what about the minor leagues? Nobody can get through a season without a pool of minor leaguers to call up during an injury situation. How do you have those guys ready to play? I think MLB is going to decide the logistics of forcing this to happen are more of a cumbersome pain in the arse than anything resembling baseball season.

This is dumb. Players are still going to go out to the store and interact with the infected. Good luck getting all of those players okay with being on 24/7 lockdown.

What minors?

Exactly my point. What happens when throughout the course of the season a team suffers injuries and needs additional players?

Old son, you don’t want to see a Mets bullpen that deep.

And neither do I

Simple. You have attendants for each team. Look at what an attendant normally makes, then bump it. Many would be glad to work.

Janitorial workers? For what? Maybe have 1 guy on standby in case a toilet is clogged.

Food service workers are already employed in many places. You want to create jobs? Hire teams from Subway, Chick Fil A, and some legit cooks. Have them rotate from hotel to hotel. Once again, I bet you can find people and give them enough money to make sure they live in isolation as well. I suppose that doesn’t mean you can trust them.

That’s why they have a 50 man roster. You are essentially combining a major league and triple a team into one. There are minor league fields or ‘back fields’ for each team at their facility. It’s plenty of room for them to train and workout.

August here in Phoenix sucks because it's actually humid during August. That makes it way worse at 110 than the 116 or in mid july. Only places I've been more uncomfortable that Phoenix in august is south Florida and new Orleans in late July and August.
