Baffled at Reds twitter melting down over the trade. They're overrating Trammell and weren't resigning Puig.
You get Bauer for all of 2020 with a qualifying offer or pick attached to him at a decent price.
Me either. It’s a good move for next year.
I am sad to see Puig go though. Lit a fire under that club and they needed it.

Mike Leake has a full no-trade but has submitted Seattle a list of teams he’d approve. Uncertain how long that list is but both Brewers and Rangers are on it (and presumably many others). @Ken_Rosenthal mentioned those 2 teams as having possible interest.

The Braves are attempting to add another potential closer before today's deadline. Think more like Shane Greene than Felipe Vazquez.

Yes, they started inquiring about a week ago, shouldn't be much more to inquire about

rosenthal is apparently saying on the MLBN that its likely vazquez gets dealt. hopefully for no more than what has already been rumored, ruiz and gray, which is already kindof an overpay

Not really. He's under contract until 2024 and is an elite closer. While Ruiz and Gray are promising, they're still prospects. You would be getting a a proven elite commodity that shortens the game down and shores up a big problem in that pen.
Banners hang forever and I'm sure they Dodgers don't want to fall short again. I hope to see them grow a set and make deal especially if they get to keep both Lux and May. Got to give something if you want something. It's an appropriate price.

Cubs OWNING the trade market for marginal relief pitches and backup catchers!

Same, Trammell was struggling in AA. If we would’ve given up someone like Jonathan India or Lodolo for him I would’ve been melting but this wasn’t too bad.
Will miss Puig, was a good teammate.

quote:this is just a mindset that bugs the crap out of me and i will never understand. it should never be your goal to increase your odds in any individual season. baseball is a dumb sport where the orioles could beat the dodgers in a best of 5 series. even acquiring a player like vazquez would still leave the dodgers as very unlikely to win the world series just due to the fact that baseball is a pretty dumb sport when its forced into a small sample size
Banners hang forever and I'm sure they Dodgers don't want to fall short again.
quote:its kind of an overpay. not a crazy one that would scare me off of doing it. i guess id do it if the organization is confident that it can replace gray. but its an overpay
