Gotta think Abreu/Loiasaga would be better since both are already MLB ready. Plus another out of the top 10, maybe the Jay's just didn't want to send him to the Yankees

Only if they don't plan on trading Noah and trying for next year

no shite. Or 5-7 other teams trying to compete. People are making fun of the Mets but shite Szapucki is probably their best pitching prospect when healthy, not either one of those guys

Stylistically he makes no sense. They will probably try to change that over the winter
Organizationally it really doesn't make much sense either

You guys might be able to explain this to me, but in what way does this Stroman trade make any sense for the Mets?
Because now he can't go to the Yankees....
That's all I've got.

they had to get another guy under team control for next year so they can deal Thor/Wheeler and not have to pay for free agents. Our organization don't like prospects and don't like spending money, its a great combination.

What’s the down side ?

I get why the move seems puzzling, but it sets them up nicely for next season. It’s a great looking staff and the offense is pretty good as well. They didn’t exactly need to do a tear down and rebuild. I find what they’re doing quite intriguing.

Well IMO no matter what BVW does most Mets fans (myself included) will hate it because they are still pissed about trading Kelenic away and taking on the Cano contract. He has little to no goodwill with the fans yet.

I thought the offense was where they struggled.

@Buster_ESPN
Rival evaluators noting: Stroman is a ground ball machine, and the Mets have what is statistically the worst infield defense in the majors.

I also noticed Buster retweeted himself where he posted his article titled "The Mets have no good plan for what to do at the deadline".

Which is what I was getting at in my earlier post. They are making this move for next year, and while teams defense does have some variance from year to year, they will need to make changes this winter for this to work

They've been better since the break I believe

@BobKlap
Told trading Syndergaard will be #Mets next move, not Wheeler. Makes sense.

There’s more than enough hitting talent there. Health and being able to get the most out of their players have been the issue. On paper, that’s a playoff team IMO. It just hasn’t worked out.
Trading away Kelenic was a tough blow, but BVW operates with a large set of nuts. I find it refreshing.

What's the ceiling on the Mets next year? Assuming they trade away Thor.
