He can't pitch till August correct? Then he has his court date August 1, so he may not pitch again this season.

Played and was good friends with him for years. Most hard working and nicest guy you will ever meet.

Not sure how I feel about the Osuna trade honestly, but I'm glad we got rid of Giles.

August 5th.

And yeah his trial is still pending. That's a pretty big concern.

On the bright side, because he was suspended it stopped his service time, so he is under control for awhile

I was on a couple of playground teams with him and went to high school with him.

He's definitely a hard working dude because he was always pretty good, but never had that stand-out talent.

Glad to see he's doing well.

@Joelsherman1

Giles and Osuna both have similar control -- both can be free agents after 2020. #Astros #Bluejays. Houston will have to explain to a fan base why it is taking on a player currently serving a suspension for violating MLB's domestic abuse protocols, with the case not closed yet.

do they really have to explain? I mean, fans don't give a shite about this stuff. if he helps my team win a WS, I don't care about off the field nonsense. he'll answer to his maker for all that when he dies.

Im not the judge Im not the jury. If he serves his time then whatever I guess. I dont want him to date my daughter. I also dont want Ken Giles dating my daughter, as well as likely many players if I knew their character.

exactly

he's probably a real piece of shite, but you'll have no personal contact with him. I honestly couldn't give less of a shite about off the field issues. it's none of my business.

It won’t need to be explained in a city like Houston, that is for sure. If it were a more progressive city, you’d see some backlash

Anyone with a functioning brain can understand why they did it. They acquired a very good backend reliever, which was a big need, for very little because of his unresolved legal issues. The PR and all that isn’t great, but it shouldn’t be a hard concept to understand.
