I guess it never got to the point where Ken Rosenthal was telling Britton to his face on national tv that he was going to houston like what happened last night with Machado 
Admittingly it's not the same situation, but this seems further along just from an optics point of view

Normally this would be a formality but with the Orioles and medicals you never know. I am sure it ends up getting done. The other part on that deal is it was right before the deadline so there wasn’t really time to change out prospects. That’s not the case here.

Last second pitch by the Phillies to steal Machado from the Dodgers. Dodgers then make a move for Escobar from the Twins and place him at 2B/SS and grab Lance Lynn from the Twins.

I doubt it. The deal has been hard to report on because they have been agreeing on back up replacement pieces. They knew medicals might ba an issue and prepared for that.

Now, I might be wrong.
However, I have explicitly heard of replacement piece medicals being reviewed to ensure a deal goes down. Multiple sources unassociated with each other...so, I think that is more certain than not.
