They can have Yainer Diaz

I think they’re ultimately going to hold onto Goodman. Ryan Jeffers is the new target of the Red Sox according to our insiders.

Also sounds like who the Yankees are going for

What happened to Austin Wells and Narvaez from Boston? I thought they were both pleasant surprises for their teams last season

Narvaez fell off a cliff. Wong has been bad for a few seasons now, so they’ll likely DFA him if they get Jeffers and give Narvaez another season to see if he can get right.
The Red Sox don’t typically trade for rentals, so it will be interesting to see what they do.

The offers are going to be rich enough where Detroit is going to end up dealing him regardless of how they play the next couple weeks
If you can’t resign him you have to deal him, period end of story.
That roster isn’t doing anything even if they make the playoffs so trade him and build a baseline roster good enough to actually compete down the road.

One of the main dodger beat writer
quote:
With a week to go before the MLB trade deadline on Aug. 3, the Dodgers don’t appear to be moving toward a trade for Skubal, according to people with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly. And it’s unclear whether the Tigers will indeed trade him; rival executives’ expectations appear to be inconsistent

Other dodger rumors

Two names the Dodgers could look to move — not as part of a theoretical Skubal package but just in general — are lefty Eric Lauer and outfielder Alex Call, Woo further reports. Lauer has been a big boost since coming over from the Jays for cash earlier this season, stabilizing an injury-plagued rotation with steady innings.

The Dodgers don’t have too many areas of clear need, but both Woo and Lee suggest that Friedman and his staff could look to add some catching depth

Jonah Heim makes sense as a rental option on an A’s club that’s firmly out of the race. Minnesota’s Ryan Jeffers and Cincinnati’s Tyler Stephenson are both frequently suggested trade possibilities, with the former seeming all but certain to change hands given the Reds’ seller status

Lots of smoke from Sox insiders about another deal with the Nationals for Abrams. Would take a serious haul.

I would think everything but Arias is on the table if they are dealing for Abrams

Eyanson too. Abrams is controlled through the 28 season I believe. Might be wrong on that, but that gives you time to ease Arias into a major league role.
Unlike what they did with Mayer and Anthony.

Mead and Abrams would be easily the worst middle infield in baseball defensively. I hope it happens, it will be hilarious to watch
In reality they would just move Abrams over to 2B where he belongs when Arias is deemed ready, likely next year

Wouldn’t shock me if they moved Mayer in a trade
If Boston is considering Arias and Eyanson untouchable it’s hard to see how they could pull off a blockbuster for someone like Abrams

Mead goes to DH in this scenario. They’re going to eat Yoshida’s contract this offseason and DFA him, imo.
So it would be Abrams at short and Arias platooning between short and 2B.
