The Red Sox are so transactional. Mead is a good player but he was on waivers in spring training. Did they really need a corner bat this bad and couldn’t part with a lesser pitching prospect to get it?

hes also like not a terrific third baseman so feels weird cause they wont be able to just dh him with yoshida

Perhaps they will just bench or waive Yoshida. Regardless, doing this on the heels of the Harrison-Durbin disaster feels like another big mistake

Yea this amplifies the Yoshida/Duran thing too to me. They’ll have to make another hard decision there unless they don’t think Anthony will be back this year.
I for one, root hard against that FO and Breslow seems like a cocksucker so hope whatever they do fails miserably but that’s been a fascinating org to watch as a non fan for the last few years.
Duran has a sub .600 OPS. Yoshida has a .725 but you really cannot have him playing the OF and his money is a problem.

+2 DRS and OAA in 108.2 innings at second base last year. Small sample. If the bat is real and the glove is serviceable then it's a great trade for the Red Sox. I like Early a lot, but not every trade needs to be a fleece job. Hopefully it works out for both teams.

If they were capable of cleaning it up they would have done so already. They held onto Duran too long and Masa can’t play in the OF anymore. Not many willing trade partners unless they’re a throw in.
