If all they play is 50 games, they shouldn’t even bother. That’s just dumb. Some guys, especially those in contract years, probably wouldn’t even play. No way whoever won the World Series would even be seen as legitimate. Would always have an asterisk.

I'm going to bet we get one more from the MLBPA and one more from the MLB and we'll get a deal.

I think the end of this week is the deadline to get a deal done to start playing on July 4

As far as the straight salary goes that’s not all that different from a full prorated salary at 50 games. The other concessions are good though I guess.

yeah full prorated for 50 games is ~30.9% of yearly salary. 75% of 76 games is ~35.2%

It is a step in the right direction though at least. As a fan I don’t want less than 76 games played at all so that’s nice

A nice giveback by owners would also be a significant raise to the minimum salary for 2021.
. MLB writers keep sharing this

MLB’s first offer to the union included about $1 billion in regular season and another $200 million in postseason. This offer basically doubles amount of postseason money, to more than $400 million. MLB points to potential total dollars as improvement. Union sees other factors.
quote:

The MLBPA regards today’s offer from MLB to be worse than the league’s last because it shifts greater emphasis on risk sharing in the postseason. Players would receive 50 percent of pro rata if there is no postseason, 75 if there is. @karlravechespn first on a new offer coming.

Basically their new offer reverts to their previous offer if there's no postseason

But somebody tell me more about how it's the owners greed that's holding up the season. The players aren't making a good faith effort in anyway to negotiate.
