There's not an issue. Just making an observation that many of the players opting out have made a career of it and are about done. If any were going to opt out those are the one's that were expected.

Yea was just piggy backing

But like the NBA championship, huge asterisk for the winner.

I don’t think there’s a big asterisk for the NBA champ. They played almost a whole season. 70 games total or so instead of 82? Not much of a difference

ETA: unless the Lakers win

So far it doesn’t appear we have any real game changers deciding to sit out, yea a few that are showing hesitance but they will probably fall in line so they don’t want to come off looking totally entitled... the few big names are on their backend and older.. not expected to be difference makers and won’t be viewed through the same lens as a trout..

All in all this could be shaping up to be an epic run towards a title with new names emerging as superstars and a hyper focus on the league... if they get this right and garner a little luck along the way... Who knows, this could be the type of National shot in the arm the league needs.. Regionally the game will continue to thrive but we could see some national reemergence

To an extent but he’s been so injury prone.. the shortened season may have been a good thing for his elbow but he’s still gonna be 3-4 guy in the rotation. A solid piece..yes but I wouldn’t say he was the piece in an otherwise talent rich organization.. youre right if you feel he’s the biggest and probably most useful talent to sit out but he’s still 34 and on the back slope of his career. Making it much easier to see why he’d opt out .

I wish Trout would opt out instead of whining every day post practice. I wish they'd talk to the players who are excited to be out there, and there are plenty of them.

I have a feel a few players are going to start the season and then opt out after getting a paycheck or two

If the MLB doesn’t get their testing ironed out soon then I think there’s going to be a massive wave of players sitting out.

I do think it’s pretty unfair to expect the testing to be absolutely flawless the first week though. Everyone should’ve expected hiccups early on.

Why? Because 1% of people tested have been positive 3 weeks before opening day?

I feel the same way. Either play or shut the hell up. I don't care one way or the other. Either play or opt out and shut the hell up about it.

More like the testing has been horribly inconsistent and results have been delayed long past the 48 hour mark.

It’s making the players nervous and if it doesn’t get ironed out soon you’re going to see a massive wave of opt outs.

These issues shouldn’t be too difficult to fix but they’re going to have to be.

Because of the ridiculousness of testing them every week and making asymptomatic people sit out.plus the media will continue to pump fear until the election.

Players are already complaining about the testing and how they don't feel safe.

No shite I was scrolling through my twitter feed yesterday and it was about 2 hours worth of

Sean Doolittle

Sean Doolittle

Sean Doolittle

Sean Doolittle

Sean Doolittle

Sean Doolittle

He and his wife have been the most self aggrandizing people through all of this. I saw a post from or about Doolittle last week where some twitter troll responded and said something to the effect that he needed to drop the wife and just play baseball like a man.

His wife retweeted it and said something like "I shouldn't have to disclose my medical history to the public but I'm so tired of responses like this, I've had a lung condition blah blah blah. "

didn't want to disclose her medical history but somebody twisted her arm and forced her into it. Let's be real, she was waiting for the right moment to put it out there and play brave hero for the Twitter world.
