They should just slide Story over to SS
I don't think his shoulder can handle a season at SS.

Looks like Boston was offering around 6/$162 with willingness to improve on that which is a fair enough offer for Bogey imo. Don't blame him at all for taking that deal from the Padres, but very happy we didn't get stupid and offer anything near where they went. 8/$200 is the absolute highest I think I would've gone.
No can't blame Bogey - stupid teams giving out these ridiculous deals so now they have to nickel and dime the rank and file players to pay these guys stupid money for years past their prime. They keep doing it over and over though. And the players association will say how good for baseball it is.

Baseball just had record revenue and the owners are billionaires. They can afford these contracts just some owners prefer to penny pinch.
Pirates owner is worth 1.1 billion
Pirates payroll was 66 million last year
Pirates recieved more than 100 million from revnue sharing
Pirates made 85 million from ticket sales and concession

A's asking price for Murphy sky high. Lmao at Donovan and Noot. Lot of teams want Noot apparently.

St. Louis was more amenable to meeting Contreras’ price than offering up what Oakland wants in return for its 28-year-old catcher. One executive referred to the A’s asking price as “high -- like the moon,” according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (subscription required).
“The Athletics sought a return of outfielder Lars Nootbaar, Gold Glove winner Brendan Donovan, and a power young pitcher like Gordon Graceffo in exchange for Murphy and three years of control, according to a source with knowledge of the talks.”
Goold reported that the Blue Jays coveted Nootbaar in talks about a swap for catcher Danny Jansen, but St. Louis has “little interest” in trading the 25-year-old outfielder.

It's always easy for us to spend other people's money.

Brandon Nimmo and the Mets have agreed to an eight-year deal worth $162 million, per source, returning the outfielder to New York. @Joelsherman1 and @JonHeyman were on it.
