Bingo. All it takes is one idiot GM to overspend.

I read the Cubs will go after chris Archer, Marcus Stroman and Aaron Nola. Out of those 3 I'd prefer Nola but either if the 3 works for me. They are also in the discussion for Yu Darvish

Is Arrieta going to cost more than Darvish?

I was just curious why. The other FA’s available aren’t really any better.

Cards and Marlins still deep in negotiations on Stanton and Yelich.

quote:

The Cardinals are more likely to trade for an impact bat than sign one, suggests Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Peter Gammons of GammonsDaily.com reported Saturday that the Cardinals are willing to offer “one of their best young pitchers” for Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton, and Goold adds that the Redbirds will have discussions with Miami about both Stanton and center fielder Christian Yelich this offseason.

quote:

Meanwhile, a much-needed addition to the Cardinals’ bullpen could come soon. The Cards have reached out to representatives for certain impending free agent relievers this weekend, relays Goold, who expects them to pursue a closer and possibly a setup man.

Davis or Holland, still going with Holland here and hopefully Nicasio.

Any deal the Cardinals make will be done before November 20th, before 40 man lists have to be turned in. Cardinals are against the number again, so if it's going to happen, it will be in next 2 weeks.

They gave away a kid last year, who SD took in rule 5, and gave away Matt Adams because of the 40 man roster.

Believe the tender would have been for $17 mil. Texas supposedly is only willing to offer 2-years, $20ish million.

Kind of surprised.

Arrieta is asking for way too much (Boras client) and won't take a hometown discount.

He's gonna be paid for what he's done, not what he's going to do.

I'm perfectly fine with him leaving.

Sounds like Cardinals have 47 players for a 40 man roster(not including any players they pick up in free agency).

Expect them to make some 2 prospects for 1 prospect deals to get that number down. An abundance of OF, who are MLB ready.
