Agreed, if they do I think he is a Cubs lock though. Cubs would likely be willing to give up a combination of Baez, Russell, Happ, and Schwarber

I bet. I'm sure they are saying some very nice things to Stanton. Cards fans are the worst.

You just said it yourself. If McCarthy and Kazmir can stay healthy. McCarthy hasn’t made 30 starts in years. No no way Marlins would want him. Kazmir has been fairly reliable, but probably wouldn’t have a lot of trade value. Grandal is a career .240 hitter, so I doubt he’s going to bring a lot back.

i know 100% that its an awful deal for the marlins. i just dont see any incentive for the dodgers to do anything else when the marlins accepted the pretty shitty offer from the giants
and at the end of the day, if they were to take on bmac and kaz and both got hurt or implode, their contracts will be off the books next winter
its turning 10 years of 25 million into, at the absolute worst, one year of 26 million
and if either, or both, stay healthy, they will be flipped for something similar to what they were getting from san francisco. its a low risk move for the marlins to take but they are dead set on getting their salary under 90 million right now

If Kazmir pitches to a 4.5 ERA like last year then no value, he would have to pitch like he did in Oakland. Same with BMac, a team will trade for them assuming they are relatively healthy and pitching well.

i will be very upset of pederson or verdugo is in that trade

I think it will take Pederson or Taylor if the Dodgers make the deal, one young MLB ready player.

in a vacuum i would be ok with trading taylor because i think theres a zero percent chance he repeats last year. but i dont want to trade anyone that would be considered better than anything that the giants were offering

Again, it’s been years since McCarthy has stayed healthy. I don’t see how anyone could bet on him. I don’t see any GM dumb enough to roll the dice on him. I’m not really that optimistic that Kazmir pitches like he did in Oakland again. He’s been far more reliable than McCarthy, so it’s more realistic he could be moved. I just don’t see either pitcher bringing that much trade value back to the Marlins. The risk outweighs the reward in my view. I would never bet on McCarthy staying off the DL.

Dodgers are in the same boat as the Yankees, if they take on the salary of Stanton they will be giving up players who have bad contracts. That means they are giving up better prospects as well.
Personally now that Stanton has said he doesn't want to go to the Giants or Cardinals I do not think he moves. The teams on his list are not going to want the salary.

But if those guys get hurt with Marlins, they get essentially nothing for Stanton. And the rebuild takes even longer.

quote:Pitching is a premium and look at BMac. The last time he was semi-healthy he was traded to the Yankees, the following year he signs big with the Dodgers. If he comes back and pitches 12 games by the AS game with a low ERA a team would be willing to take a chance on him.
