that's bullshite if those names get them Stanton and Dee. Basically another Miami firesale

You do realize a player owed 300mil, and a full no trade clause, entering his 28-36 years has very little value??? And Heavily backloaded.

He was shopped at deadline for his contract.

Teams looking to deal for him wants marlins to eat cash, which is only way Marlins get anything more than a throw in OF or C prospect

They don't have many prospects in their system. #26 or worse ranked by rags/media And they are against the luxury cap, so they would have to deal either jeff smabunchofletters or Cueto

Yeah, I read that if they did land Stanton, they would be looking to deal one of their own big contracts because of the luxury cap.

The Giants seem to be holding on to hope that because they were good for the first half of 2016, that 2017 was a fluke. Their roster is full of overpaid guys on the wrong side of 30 and their farm system sucks. I don't see Stanton changing their fortunes much.

Yes I understand the influence that the contract has in the talks but that's ridiculous still.

I agree with ur premise, a super star shouldn't get dealt for c prospects. it's the , "Jeff Loria" effect. Thankfully, he's gone.

once again, look at how much money the giants already have committed through 2021. i just dont see how they pull this off and deal with their committed salary

The Rangers are set to acquire right-hander Ronald Herrera from the Yankees, reports MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand (on Twitter). The two teams announced the trade shortly thereafter, revealing that lefty Reiver Sanmartin is going to the Yankees in return. Herrera was on the Yankees’ 40-man roster and will thus be added to the Rangers’ 40-man roster as well.

2018: 157mil
2019: 139mil
2020: 105 mil
2021: 73 mil

with a deal this big money is always a problem but their biggest problem will be having the pieces to complete a trade like this with someone like STL in the mix.

then again with Stanton's no trade clauses, he could maybe force his way to SF if that is where he wants to be, and MIA may just have to take that return to get relief from the contract

Yeah 2 teams, and 1 has NO payroll flexibility or prospects.

Not exactly the Market the Marlins hoped for.

ive been thinking the marlins are doubley screwed if he wants to force his way to a team that doesnt even really want him like the yankees or the cubs or the dodgers or whatever and he'll just keep vetoing everything the marlins get from the giants or the cards

Brewers looking at Arrieta and Lynn

They know both, nothing wrong with going after players you faced and know what they bring, rather than the unknown

Well bubba, as a Cards fan id be pretty upset to deal some of the names floating around if you are practically bidding against no one. With as desperate as they are to get rid of him

He’s in his prime and it’s not like his contract is some kind of Albert Pujols or Miguel Cabrera one that last until they’re in their 40’s. It’s a lot of money but to say there’s little value their because of the money is down right silly. When we start seeing these 350+ million dollar contracts, suddenly it doesn’t look as bad as some are making it seem to be.

Not to mention if he continues to post couple of monster years, he’ll likely opt out looking for more money. The Marlins would be stupid to just give him up just to shed salary for a bunch of mid tier prospects.

In a league that is craving power the Stanton is the prime player. You know if he plays 130+ games he is going to give you 40+ and is an imposing threat in your order.

The Cards need Stanton as much as Miami needs to rid his contract
