SLG yeah is pretty heavy to Judge, the other ones are all close.

And neither one are winning or losing the MVP due to defense, so you might as well throw that out entirely.

Those numbers aren't far off from one to the other. Less than 10% variance from Altuve's 159 to Judge's 172. That's pretty close, a lot closer than most of the stats.

I don’t think wRC+ adjusts for position just park and league. I dunno what the difference was between corner OF and 2B but getting elite production from 2B is different than corner OF. That brings those numbers closer together

as long as we are saying thats pretty close, we can also say that nelson cruz and jose ramirez were pretty close to altuve. or that logan morrison was pretty close to marwin gonzalez

i can accept that. but that changes the argument from whats close to, whats more valuable. which is a fair argument for altuve

Both of those guys had great seasons and will be getting MVP votes.

and what do you think the reaction would be if i went into the DAT and told everyone that they were essentially a wash with altuve in total offensive production?

No one ever said they were a wash.

Just saying that the simple two column chart doesn't take into account margins.

you just said they were "pretty close" and they arent. you can argue whether altuves number at second base is more valuable than judges numbers in right field. but they are not close numbers

Except that yes, they are close.

When compared with the stats like BA, SLG, HR, BB, Hits, SB, which is what I was saying. Those numbers aren't close, some in favor of Altuve, others in favor of Judge.

Well altuve putting the ball in play won us game 2 against the Yankees and game 7 against the dodgers while Judge and the yankees k'd there way to a series loss. People discounting hits and not caring about Ks will continue to lose when it matters

When Judge slumped after the All Star Game, Altuve kept raking. He should win.

MVP was voted before the playoffs began so that is irrelevant

Yep. Altuve was the same baseball player every single week since April. The fact that this could be close is silly.
