I don’t see how they would br able to afford any pitching to go with them if they got all those guys in their prime.

Red Sox don't have a single silver slugger.

Devers will be on that list in due time

Catcher: Buster Posey (Giants)
Ok, I'll be the one to say it. Posey doesn't deserve the Catcher SS. He only played 99 games at catcher and Wilson Contreras had better numbers in less at bats anyways.

contreras only played 108 games at catcher and posey was worth 2 DRS at catcher this year while contreras was negative
posey is also one of the best framers in the world, contreras isnt. he deserved it

Silver Slugger has nothing to do with fielding
I still think Posey should have won the SS but it's close. Suzuki had a crazy year too though only in 81 games

what does any of that have to do with winning the silver slugger?

I know it is limited but the Yankees are one of the teams that can offer the most
Yanks can offer second most. Rangers can offer the most.
I think he'll end up in NY, difference isn't that much.

I wonder how much money actually matters to him considering he is already losing so much money by not waiting another two years

I'd assume not much. I looked it up and Texas can offer like $250K more than NY can. So not much.
Texas also made Wakamatsu the bench coach. Pretty clear they are going all-in for him.

If the angels are willing to pay the 30 mill on trout, and then the 70+ for Machado and Harper combined, then I have no idea how they would fill out their roster
And they owe Pujols 30+ per year

If Cardinals miss out on Stanton, because they wanted Marlins to eat salary, then fans need to tell ownership to frick off.
They already make a shite load of $$$, and now have an extra 100mil per season. They could easily afford Stanton and others with just the TV money.
I keep seeing this play out like that, and Mo/girsch talk about how we came in 2nd place again on big target. I hope i'm wrong. Locals are getting pissed with the BS.

How do you know they won’t pursue Moustakas, Martinez, Donaldson, or someone else if the price is too high for Stanton?

The Cardinals, who have discussed Stanton with the Marlins, are “determined” in their interest, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. The two clubs expect to continue their Stanton talks at the meetings, according to Goold, who adds that the Cardinals also have Marlins closer Brad Ziegler on their radar. The 38-year-old Ziegler is due $9MM in 2018, and it’s fair to surmise that the payroll-slashing Marlins would like to remove as much of his money as possible from their books.
