Per sources, Yankees have talked to the Rangers about SS Isiah Kiner-Falefa, but as of yesterday the pre-lockout trade market was pretty dead. @Ken_Rosenthal reports that Seager signing could lead to this. As we’ve previously reported, Yanks have some interest in Simmons too.

Rangers also still have about 24 million to spend if they want to. I expect the Rangers to land another guy or 2.
Kershaw is still in play. Two things holding talks up on that are 1) he just had his post-season fundraiser for his charity (unlike most celebrities, he is heavily involved personally in the fundraising) and 2) Mrs. Kershaw is about to deliver baby Kershaw #4 in early December.
I think $22M for at least 2 years (and you may need to go 3) would land him. The arm issues are a concern, but his clubhouse leadership with the younger pitchers is invaluable and would be worth the price paid.
And since he has his WS ring, he doesn't need to go somewhere to chase it (since the Rangers, even with all this spending, aren't a serious contender in any year).

Given that what the Rangers got in return from the Yankees for Odor and Gallo, AntiqueTiger wouldn't even touch at his garage sales, expect the same here.

MLB is proposing a draft lottery similar to the NBA. Theyre also proposing expanding the playoffs to 14 teams, 7 in each league. NFL format in that the #1 seed gets a WC round bye. #2, and #3 seeds would pick their WC opponent. They could pick any of the #5, 6 or 7 seed to play. #2 would pick first, then 3 and whoever is left would play the #4 seed or best WC team. WC series would be best of 3 and played at the home of the higher side just like in 2020.

So the division championship the #2 and #3 seeds win means nothing? Great idea. Get ready for teams to sit on their hands at the deadline if the only difference between #2 and #7 is homefield advantage.
Just expand the wild card with more play in games. Making division races meaningless will ruin the regular season.

did you know MLB used not one, but *two* different balls all season? And that the balls were designed to perform differently?
You didn’t?
Well the players, coaches, execs and scouts I spoke said they didn’t either!
Buckle in— we got a story to tell:

I’m pretty butthurt about this. I bet baseball regularly, primarily over/unders, and now find out it was basically rigged.

I'm curious was it used against some teams, was it random, how did they know which type of balls were in play
Posted on 11/30/21 at 6:16 pm to tduecen
Didn’t they mention they’d the loaded balls would be used more in primetime national games?
I’m sure it was used in the field of dreams too.

Braves have checked in on A’s star 1B Matt Olson, presumably as a contingency plan in case Freddie Freeman leaves via free agency. Most still have a hard time envisioning Freeman in any other uniform but Braves want to be prepared.

Clearly the Astros pitchers got the juiced ball and Braves pitchers used the deadball. Finna riot.
