It’s just hilarious to me it’s taken this long to get them to actually negotiate face to face

I feel like most industries with what’s on the line you’d be fricking locked in a room for a week until you figure it out

Can someone explain the disdain for Heyman in all this? Probably got his info directly from Manfred. And his tweets didn’t really signify finality or that anything was signed. Just that it seemed inevitable. And if the players and owners were actually willing to give on their demands previously non-negotiable, I would probably think the same thing.

"Closing in on deal" seems to be somewhat of a misrepresentation. He got his info from someone in the league and they thought they reached an informal agreement whereas Clark and the PA clearly dont feel that way

Yeah I guess. Nearly every tweet or thing I have read seems to be just raking the guy over the coals over it though. People are livid and I guess I just don’t see the warranting offense. May have been premature but it didn’t seem like it meant anything was finalized.

Seems like Heyman is just bearing the brunt of the entire failure of the baseball negotiations.

definitely made things seem like they were further along than they actually are and people are touchy about this situation obviously. Originally and overreaction but I kinda get it

Is there a universal DH?

Yes, the deal includes the DH for the NL for 2020 and 2021 where the CBA will then adopt it after.

Pending MLB agreement reportedly includes DH in NL for both 2020 and 2021. Then comes new CBA which almost certainly will include it. So, NL is a DH league now.

Very similar to a college regular season. More of a sprint than a marathon.

I will enjoy a shortened season. Every game will be like a postseason game and this board will be lit.

Same.

I'm a big baseball fan, but the games don't feel like they have any real meaning or importance until late August and September.

A shortened season ratchets up the significance from day one, and it will be fun to follow immediately from opening day.

per Jeff Passan

quote:

Following a four-hour negotiation in Arizona between MLB commissioner and union executive director Tony Clark on Wednesday, the league believed the framework of a deal had been agreed upon, according to sources. But the union disagreed and players said they view the 60-game schedule proposal as too short. Absent a deal, the league has the ability to implement a season of its desired length, likely around 50 games. That move would likely lead to a grievance by the players. The relationship between the sides has degraded, with each accusing the other of bad-faith negotiations.

There is no need for two leagues anymore. Realign based on location.
