They should have forced the owner to sell as well.

Given the situation in Oakland, I’m not sure I blame them for going full Rachel Phelps to try and force a move.

This isn’t like, say, Miami where they have a big metro area but can’t draw dick and tend to jerk around the fans.

SF is big, Oakland is kind of an anal wart across the bay where the docks are.

should move to Nashville

Why?

Nashville already has a full grown NFL team they don't support.

Oakland Athletics' move to Las Vegas approved unanimously by MLB owners

Of course they approved it unanimously. None of them want their assets injured in that shithole of a stadium.

The Tampa / St Pete market in particular got the Rays because the SF Giants were attempting to move there and MLB cut a deal to keep them in the Bay Area.

White Sox were within minutes of moving to Tampa Bay until the Illinois legislature gave them the farm to build New Comiskey.

Yeah, the threat of a relocation was big money in the 80s and 90s for these teams to get new stadiums.

Tampa / St Pete sued MLB after the Giants incident in particular around 1994, which was a major contributing factor in the Rays being added to the league around 1998.

I assume the new Vegas stadium will have retractable roof?

Pure outdoor stadium in Vegas seems like a bad idea in July-Sept. “Dry heat” aside, 110° is miserable. And in evenings can still be in mid 90s

Good, I hope LA and the rest of them lose theirs as well. Those people dont deserve sports teams.

Oakland is only losing theirs because San Francisco is right there

In the past , Vegas was avoided by pro teams because of the betting angle. Now that it’s legal, Vegas is feasting on pro sports.

The A’s are leaving because the owner has been trying to move them for years. The A’s had a great fan base but ownership was straight out of major league.

The Giants would have looked very foolish in 94 to move to Florida… now… not so much.

You misspelled “New Orleans”

San Francisco has so much corporate support there, and now without the Oakland teams, their fans will gravitate to the Giants, 49ers, and Warriors so it’s a safe bet none of those teams will ever move

Yes, but partially retractable. But as expensive as they are to build and maintain, they would probably be better off just using a fixed roof since all these other retractable roofs are rarely opened during the season.

Given how poorly the Rays have drawn, the Giants, Mariners, and White Sox owners have to be counting their blessings every day they didn't go there. Looking back, I wonder why St Petersburg/Tampa was such an attractive place back then in an ugly domed stadium.

Lake Mead supplies more than enough water for Las Vegas, especially since we're good at water conservation as the previous poster said.

The main problem is that Lake Mead water goes to California, Arizona, and Mexico too.

The latest agreements are favorable but Cali has long been abusing their rights.

Let's not forget for years the A's ran campaigns and statements hating on the Raiders for leaving. I believe it was "Rooted in Oakland". They put that shite up the day after the Raiders left.
