Didn’t realize that happened
Sendek is sprinting towards official signaling timeout. If that ref can see Kentucky clearly has possession in a scrum to give them a timeout just a minute earlier, he can give the coach a timeout as he’s screaming down the sideline.

This.

Giving Kentucky timeout on the loose ball
I hate KY as much as anyone, but that wasn’t a loose ball. Oweh clearly had possession on the floor when the timeout was granted.

I’m no basketball genius, but shouldn’t they immediately foul after making the 3?
Why would they let them inbound, dribble across the half and shoot?

I don't disagree, but the official that awarded the timeout was behind the scrum and no way had a clear view of who had possession. Which means he awarded the timeout to Kentucky straight up blind.

Yes. Santa Clara lost this game. The refs didn't lose it for them.

I’m with you. I have a much bigger issue with not granting Sendek the TO.

Clear if you do slow motion replay with a zoomed in camera and can use another view to see the Kentucky player calling timeout.
But Sendek sprinting down the sideline yelling and signaling timeout wasn’t?

SC had some flubs in OT, but the officials absolutely affected the outcome of the game. To say they didn't is disingenuous .

Oweh made past half court in 2.6 seconds, Ohio State dude didn’t even make it to half court with 4 seconds left yesterday

Santa Clara had a 3 point lead with 2 seconds left, and instead of fouling Kentucky they gave them a free run all the way to the three point line.

That was pathetic.

The SC coach called timeout, the refs ignored him. So again, the officials affected the outcome.

To be fair it was a half court shot he banked in off the glass

You always foul up 3 with under 8 seconds to go. Santa Clara was just poorly coached in that spot.

Completely irrelevant. They should know to foul in this situation.

I think that’s why they were trying to call timeout.
In that sort of scramble with only 2.6 seconds left you’re worried that when you foul the player is already in his shooting motion and you end up fouling on a 3.

#8 from Santa Clara stood in the lane with his arms raised as everyone else raced down court.
