The problem is that people have to go to one extreme or another to try to prove a point that in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter at all.

"MJ is great but he is by far the biggest POS ever"

"Lebron would have been an average player in the 80's"

Seriously, both of those statements are dumb as hell.

Jordan is arrogant and cocky, so he is on par with a child molester. Lebron has disappeared in the cluth in some games, so lets forget the rest of his games (99% of his career) and claim that he'd be a role player deferring to Mark Price and John Hot Rod Williams.

The internet does a great job of giving stupid people a voice.

Can someone summarize the interview?

Focused on his time as an owner as opposed to his time as a player. Really was about how competitive he was as a player, and how much more difficult it is for him to be an owner and NOT be able to have a direct impact on the game. Says he dreams about winning a 7th title (1st as an owner) all the time

Not 1 thing that I remember (was semi-listening) having to do with any of the OPs topics

First, Lebron left Cleveland to join an all-star cast in order to win a title...and still failed in their first go 'round against an inferior ragtag bunch from Dallas

this point is irrelevant for several reasons

namely, wins are a function of team

quote:

Second, Jordan played in an era where defenders were allowed to maul players around the basket.

and they were inferior in every other way, both in terms of athleticism and scheme. which matters more day in, day out?

quote:

The Jordan rules used by the Pistons would make Lebron's arse quit like a bitch

yes, he'd really be scared of this guy

lebron is bigger, faster, and a lot stronger than him

quote:

Finally, Jordan was just flat out tougher. Lebron, for all his skill, has a lot of bitch in him. He has gotten better at suppressing it, but it still rises up when adversity hits every now and then.

ah, the intangible argument that is purely subjective and based on the commentator's perception, and thus, irrefutable

and post play is just abysmal compared to what it once was.

because it's not as efficient as modern strategies

there are plenty of good post players. they just don't get the opportunity to get fed over and over in inefficient 90s style

these MJ vs LeBron arguments are really mind numbing....there's always the argument that players are better today, which is quite obvious because training, medicine, and coaching is always improving so the current players in every sport should ALWAYS be better today than in the past...that's no fault of the older star, secondly...winning championships is the ultimate goal and always seems to be discounted by the LeBron supporters

maybe in golf or tennis, but judging individuals based on team accomplishments is silly...just my two pennies.

but the arguments against lebron are often irrational, subjective, or just plain insane

Read this again. You are comparing the advancement of technology to athletic evolution

Defense in the late 80s and early 90s sucked absolute arse. Sure they may have been physical, but they barely even played defense back then.

Jordan is very insecure and takes things personally, and God help you if you were part of that insecurity

A friend of mine had a theory that Jordan had the smallest dick in recorded history. Although it was a joke, you sometimes had to think seriously about it whenever the bulls were up 30 in a regular season game and MJ was still just taking it to the paint and dunking on second stringers with 4 minutes left to go in the game. Then staring them down afterwards...

It scares me how misinformed some are about the modern NBA.

Jordan's points where MUCH tougher to earn game in and game out.

League Average PPG

'80s: 109.3
'90s: 101.0
'00s: 96.9

Over 13 point difference from the 80s. In the 80s anyone could score. There was no defense at all
