Completed 2 yards short of the endzone. If Everett Burnett gets in, Kansas State, only a decade after being billed "Futility U" by Sports Illustrated, goes to the Fiesta Bowl where they would've been favored to beat Tennessee.

Bishop was the Heisman runner-up. Would this play have swung the Heisman race? Would it be mentioned alongside the Kick Six, the Cal-Stanford band play, Hail Flutie, Boise's Statue of Liberty, etc.?

Seems like K State is fairing better than SI in the long run.

KState still was ranked #3 in the final BCS poll after the game, but ended up in the Alamo Bowl after being passed over by the BCS and Cotton. They were upset by an unranked Purdue team led by an upstart sophomore QB….named Drew Brees.

Don't remind me I was at that game. I think K-State's defense stopped Purdue twice in the whole game. Both times they did they blocked Purdue punts for touchdowns.

I don't know if wins the Heisman, but that was a helluva a pass. 70 yards about. If he'd scored it would have been the stuff of legend

Ah it's time for Karmew32's monthly 1998 KSU post. If only this facemask got called maybe KSU wouldn't have even been in the Big 12 title game.

The shock of the K-State players still resonates...

And how fast that Aggie player got into the end zone.

Was rooting for k-state at the time.

And in a blink of the eye the game was over.

The refs in the UCLA-Miami game were working against the government. I wonder why? Did Bill Snyder pay them off?

Met Michael Bishop a few years ago. He apparently was in a bad car accident (hit by drunk driver) about 7 years ago. Doctors told him he may never walk again but was playing basketball a year later.
