He's not an academic though. He's a career politician turned lobbyist who was given the job by the MSU board of regents.

That's a whole other debate.

It's not the AD. It's the Interim President former Republican Governor Fat John Engler. Doesn't a Michigan education include reading comprehension?

Here's a gem from the story. Republicans demanded that he get hired.

"The board had two possibilities — former Michigan Gov. John Engler, a Republican, and former Michigan Gov. Jim Blanchard, a Democrat. Both were alumni with long ties to the school. But the state Legislature, then controlled by Republicans, made it clear to MSU — hire Engler or get ready to lose millions of dollars in state aid."

Precisely. You'd be hard-pressed to find a single professor at Michigan State who supported the hiring of Engler. In fact, the vast majority of faculty were horrified at his selection. Engler has shown little to no understanding, or appreciation, for higher education. Their worst fears were realized as it became apparent that Engler was appointed primarily to undercut the victims at every turn and create the illusion that institutional reform was occurring. The entire board should also be replaced for caving to the demands of a corrupt political class.

Michigan State should hire the judge who presided over the Nassar case as an independent overseer of the presidential search. It's obvious that there are too many people hell bent on hiding the full details of what happened over the past couple of decades.

Like Trump, Engle got out of the draft for medical reasons. He was too fat according to the draft board and a friendly doctor.

No, he's not right. The system allows for punitive damages in excess of economic loss. MSU settled because they knew they'd get punitive damages.

Oh no, if there was only something MSU could have done to avoid punishment/punitive damages! Oh wait, there was. They could have not covered up rape for a few decades.

No jury would have felt sorry for MSU. That's why they voluntarily settled on 500 mil. Trial would have been worse.
