That's not the way Title IX works, FYI. He has a duty to report it to university officials regardless of the police involvement. Granted, he may not have been aware he still had a requirement, but the requirement existed nonetheless.

Because he is such a lying sociopath he thinks it wont come back to bite him in the arse

Urban is either 1 a huge sociopathic liar, 2 a raging dumbass, 3 a piece of shite who is part of something worse, or 4. didnt actually know

You don't know what you're talking about regarding Title IX.

I feel like it's too fast to resign. You might as well see how it blows over this close to the season.

He didn't witness the abuse nor was told directly by the abused party.

He doesn't have a legal requirement to report.

I have not pulled the OSU handbook, but the quoted portions only deal with reporting an allegation and don't say you need firsthand knowledge to trigger.

More to the point, I was saying it's a run of the mill reporting requirement and not unconstitutional. Regardless of the language of the requirement, mandating reporting is pretty common and isn't unconstitutional.

Whether Urban violated...well, we'll see. That will get settled in the coming days, as will what OSU wants to do about this.

There is no chance Les would take the OSU job

How his odds are second is crazy to me

The police didn't even charge him. If Urban fires him, there would be a lawsuit for wrongful termination.

He is from Ohio . I know coaches have put their own rivalries to bed in the past (see Muschamp playing for UGA but coaching UF) but Les seems like the type of guy to say "no thanks, Go Blue"

If he ended up not being guilty of anything, OSU would owe him his money

ESPN still hasn't put this story on their main page headline or CFB headline. Guess they aren't wanting to give McMurphy to coverage.

The ex-wife isn't stating that she told Urban directly. That's the point.

I get that, but it's a logical conclusion that Urban would have known in 2015 if his wife knew.

Also, to be fair, the fact that he denied knowing at media days isn't really a big deal if you assume he reported it in 2015 and is just respecting the privacy of all parties. If he reported it and nothing came of it, OSU could have bigger problems, but Urban is probably going to survive. If he knew and didn't report it, he's got a problem.

Lastly, Title IX investigations and issues have a very low burden of proof. We've all heard the horror stories. The idea that Urban's wife knew and he didn't isn't the saving grace some of you think it is.

Which would be such bullshite. The state of news and reporting in general is terrible. Too many personal agendas, little followup, just a race to be first because they know in the end it doesn't matter if you're right, just if you're the one covering it. People don't demand good journalism anymore and that's why there isn't any.

Update: Awful Announcing has heard most ESPN CFB reporters were at a company seminar when this broke, which added to the delays in covering it. However, you could argue other reporting options could or should have been employed given the situation, and given that much of their eventual piece was only restating what was in McMurphy’s report.
