Was going to post that it seemed like poor sportsmanship by the coach till I saw the final score was 63-50.

Reminds me of my playing days. I think we had a few opponents come close to that.

Just texted my buddy to say we should go watch him one of these coming Friday nights.

Not a bad night.

The joys of Texas football.

It is a complete 180 from my days (cue the "shut up, old man" comments). Defense is strictly a formality. They trot squads out there strictly because they have to.

And he did it in 6A. 8 of the top 10 rushing games in Texas history were from classes 1A - 3A. Very impressive to do it against one of the largest schools in the state/nation, Plano East.

Defenses weren't technically better in your day, they just had worse offenses to deal with.

The wing T with a QB who can't complete a pass to save your life will be a bit easier to stop then the HS offenses we see these days.

The good teams in Texas, like most states, still play defense.

I promise you this though, these teams today would hang about 100 on you and your boys from back in the day.

Just want to call out that Plano East is a 2-5 football team.

That team would beat yours like 60-3

Wait this is somewhat bigger deal as it is not against some 3A team isn't McKinney 6A and Plano East has usually one of the largest graduation classes in the country?

Oh what am I thinking?? We all know Louisiana Football is better than anything Texas has...geesh.

Has a real lunch pail attitude. Is deceptively fast. Terrific student of the game.

Try and find highlights on YouTube. Kid is slow so Plano must have really gone downhill

Grats on the record though

I was there. He is listed as 6'0 and 185 pounds. I could be wrong but I think that is generous. He is not deceptively fast, he is fast. Cuts on a dime. I asked what college they thought he might go to and was told that they didn't know. By the way, Plano East had a chance to come within one score late in the game but ran of time and timeouts. Very good high school game.

Yeah. Arguably the greatest high school team of all time - the 1983 Daingerfield team - outscored opponents 631-8 en route to the first 16-0 season in Texas history. Those 8 points weren't even scored on the defense - there was an INT returned for a TD, but the defense blocked the PAT, and a safety. Hell, the defense scored 76 points that year.

That being said, that Daingerfield team still averaged close to 40 points per game. Good teams have had good offenses and defenses for decades in Texas.
