Not calling the timeout before the punt is so idiotic. Not that it would matter with how awful Dak is, but that was such a moronic move.

His moron QB should know he can’t take that sack and throw it away.

I'm not sure they'll get the ball back anyway.

Agreed. You aren’t guaranteed to get the ball back after punting. Might as well try and pick up the 10 yards.

Game was lost on 4 plays: Dak’s 2 INTs, Dak missing a wide open receiver down the seam to throw to Lamb instead, not being able to punch in a TD when SF coughs up a punt on the 20.

Pretty obvious when teams can’t punch in from distance on a tired D, they not gonna win

You always save your timeouts when the other team has the ball. The thinking here is that you'll never waste 40 seconds on offense or special teams like the opposing offense would run off the clock. Theoretically, but then there's the buffoon Mike McCarthy.

What lost the game was the second interception right before the half.

So instead of running the rest of the clock before half and getting at least 3 points, you give them the ball back and they get the 3 points instead. That's just devastating for an underdog on the road.

I say this everytime.... imagine being the most valuable sports franchise on planet earth, and you choose Mike fricking McCarthy as your head coach.

It's like Elon Musk pulling up in a Dodge Stratus.

All of this goes out the window, though, when there’s a 2 minute warning that would’ve become your third timeout. It would’ve kept them from being able to throw the ball on their first play with the 2 minute right behind it, and it would’ve meant that Dallas would’ve gotten the ball with 2:00 left (and likely better field position because wouldn’t have gotten the 1st down) instead of getting it back as late and deep as they did.

I can’t stop laughing about that play. San Fran literally called timeout to tell the linebacker to run right through zeke at center.

That's disrespectful to the Dodge Stratus.

I disagree with the timeout strategy above. It is smarter to use your timeouts when the other team has the ball. On offense you can decide the types of plays and dictate the clock. When the opponent has the ball they control the type of plays. A running play is going to run the full clock for example. You use the timeout to stop that. Save some time for yourself. Then make your play calls that control the clock the way you want.

Over under Deion becoming Cowboys coach in the future if he has success at Colorado? It would be a classic Jerry Jones move.

I was glad Olsen was calling him out on it on the telecast.

Usually the commentators are so careful with that stuff so as to avoid any semblance of criticism, and resort to cliches and generalities. So it was good to see him actually cut the BS and explain why it was a dumb move for McCarthy to let the clock run.

The guy had Aaron Rodgers for the entirety of his prime and only got past the divisional round three times. 1 Super Bowl win or not, that’s unacceptable.

Look at it like this — McCarthy has as many NFC Championship game appearances with Rodgers as Jim Harbaugh does with Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick.
