So HOU won the trade? I don’t think he was a real problem in HOU he just doesn’t fit the timeline. they want to play the young guys.

It is win win, IMHO.

I think Wood can put up the scoring for Dallas, which is what they wanted. An offensive threat next to Luka.

But he is also such a locker room issue and puts up empty stats that it wasn’t like he was helping Houston. They dump his contract without taking on long term money and get a pick in the process.

Wood is a cancer. You can't say hey maybe he'll figure it out. He's been to too many places and it hasn't clicked yet.

One game. One freaking game. That’s the slap on the wrist Wood received for refusing to go into the same game in the second half. At halftime, Wood reportedly got into a heated argument with assistant coach John Lucas.

Keep this dude away from my nba team

Wood’s already been through NOLA and they passed on keeping him for chump change.

This is a big L for mavs. Luka is already a so so leader and adding a me me me guy like Wood won't help.

The entire Mavs roster wasn’t big on playing D until Kidd got here. Went from the worst defense in the league to top 10 with only adding Bullock and changing the system. It’s really just effort and I’m sure his effort will go up now that he’s playing for a contender and not teams hoping for a top 5 lottery pick.

puts up empty stats

It’s all empty stats til you get to the right team. Wiggins is getting like 16 ppg in the playoffs and everyone is acting like he is a superstar now. Lavine and Booker were called empty stats guys.

Wood is still young, he’s athletic, he will get a ton of minutes to save Maxi’s legs for playoffs. He can shoot from deep, is a legit offensive big. Not like his empty stats were him being an inefficient chucker.

Add in the fact that the guy also grabs boards, which is also huge for the Mavs. Hopefully being on a good team with a guard feeding him will keep him happy. If Mavs can add a wing to rotate with DFS and Bullock, they will be scary next year.

And Dallas got rid of their trash basically, though I love Boban.

What can Houston baws tell me about him? We are apparently looking for our Tyson chandler 2.0
He puts up stats and has talent but he’s a black hole on offense. Pass him the ball and he’s not passing it.. he’s taking a shot.

At least it's still efficient for the most part.

The black hole offense is fine, but dude is legit stat chasing defensively. Hassan Whiteside with a better offensive game.

That's Christian wood.

He is still efficient, but I feel he bogs down an offense. He gets his points at the expense of the team. Selfish player, basically.

He never been on a team who was even competitive.

HOU 2 seasons after harden left - worst team in the league
DET - worse team in the league

Never really played anywhere beside that.

We know it wasn’t his fault the teams were so bad they were both in rebuild mode that has to be tough on a guy.

Right, and if you're the mavs and you're trying to find that next piece to get you to the Finals and you think Wood is it then fricking yikes.

Not that I feel the trade warrants thats what they think. I just don't see the plus in this at all.

Dallas needs another guy who can get his own points. They just got one at a position of need cause he plays center and can also grab you 11 rpg. Not like Spencer and Jalen are diming up teammates.

I feel like there is some potential there defensively. Sadly, he seems like the kind of guy who might just have to be motivated to try on defense.

I’ll bring up Wiggins again. That dude had the skills to be good defensively, but he wasn’t with the Wolves. Now he is with Golden State. Wood has the talent, just needs the effort.

Contract year for a stretch 4/5 that can also attack the rim and get boards. Maybe that next contract in his sights and we can get some better defense out of him.

I think I'd be a locker room issue too if I was a talent of his caliber and had to play for those Detroit and Houston teams.

Just sad Boban is gone. Hopefully Houston just cuts him and he comes back just for that light-hearted guy int he lockers

They desperately needed to not have Powell play anymore, at least in playoffs. One of their two biggest needs was a decent center who can rebound.

Wood is a massive upgrade, legit rebounder, oh and he can also knock down 3’s and get you 20 ppg. Luka will keep this dude fed and happy. A stretch big who can grab over 10 rpg is a dream fit for this team. And he can catch lobs on the roll.

If they can find a decent backup wing, this team will be competing for the 1 seed.

I’m gonna miss Bobi, but Wood should be a great PnR or PnP asset for the Mavs. I’m thrilled with the trade.

Even trade IMO.

Houston clears room for their young guys to get experience and Dallas gets an upgrade at a position of need on an expiring deal.

I'm not sure why so many Houston fans are bashing this move. He's a clear upgrade to Powell at center and if he acts like an a-hole Dallas will let him walk when the season is done. It's not like the Mavs gave up any rotation players to get him either.

when harden leaves a franchise it is a lot like when Bron does. They only win about 20 games.

The team he leaves must hate it because they don’t win anymore rings.

Oh wait. Harden never got anybody any rings lol
