Isn't the theory that the new owners are trying to destroy the franchise to justify a future move to Las Vegas?

Was my understanding she bought it so she could put a resort near the stadium somewhere. She is also banking on legalized gambling which is what Tilman Fertitta has been actively pursuing for 15 years.

Dallas is a huge TV market, with all sorts of corporate money and they love sports there. They aren't about to let a team leave that market.

It happened to Seattle. See two posts above yours.

Adelson must have visited Clay Bennett in his tornado ravaged trailer park and is borrowing his playbook.

Dallas is a much bigger and lucrative market than Seattle

Negative percent chance the league approves a move from Dallas

It's called leverage they'll use to get tax dollars and other concessions out of the City of Dallas. Cuban owns land in the Design District that may have been part of the Mavs deal. That land is/was for a new arena and casino . I wouldn't be surprised if the new ownership group buys land in Arlington too.

There is no way that is the case. Dallas is one of the larger markets in the country and the Mavs have a huge fan base.

If this was happening to the Pelicans, Sacramento, or Charlotte, that would be plausible and even likely.

How all sports teams in DFW arent in Collin County is baffling. The land, business, people, all here and safe with money.

I'm surprised they didn't build that Cricket stadium up there instead of Grand Prairie.

Hopefully it’ll take some of the cricket population from Collin County. Way too many here

Mark Cuban has to be having a meltdown. First, he never would have traded Luka.

Secondly, he was adamant the Mavericks would never leave the Dallas city limits.
Then he shouldn't have sold his controlling interest.

I’m amazed that Texas doesn’t have casinos and that you can’t sports bet online in Georgia.

Is it really that insane of a theory? It's eerily similar to the events that happened before the Sonics moved to OKC. Schultz sold the Sonics to new ownership, they shipped Ray Allen out, new ownership did everything they could to alienate the fans to justify relocating to OKC.

Exactly. This already played out in Seattle. It's not a stretch to say that this could be happening in Dallas. Bennett traded away the Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis, limited players media exposure on purpose, proposed building a publicly-funded arena in Renton rather than Seattle, and limited local engagement with the players. He basically made the entire city hate him, stop supporting the team, then used that to justify his move to OKC. Sounds like a nice blueprint for the Dallas ownership.

They had serious arena issues in Seattle

The arena in Dallas isnt bad at all

And I cant imagine them approving a move away from a top 5 market
