Id take Franklin with Orgeron as an assistant. But Orgeron is a CEO so he wouldn't take that.

Wasn't Bill O'Brien the one that took them over after the sanctions?

Franklin took them over after Bill O. He did not rebuild them, but hey, let's ignore history.

He was HC for 2 years and went 8-4 and 7-5. JoePa's final three years they went 11-2, 7-6, 9-4.

He did not really rebuild them so much as he held the fort down for a couple seasons. They only had something like 10 players transfer out and only the RB Silas Redd was really important. On top of that the NCAA almost immediately started walking back their penalties and within 4 years it was like nothing had happened.

Once they joined the big10 on a junior membership, they were done as a power.

Should of stayed in little 12. And ran things. 1-2 tough games a year and in title game and heading to playoffs

Not a chance. He is not well liked by the Iowa administration or boosters. Allegedly he was banging coeds when he was an assistant here and was a known regular downtown.

A rather vocal sect of the missouri fanbase thinks they’d be doing the same if they stayed.

No one wanted to stay in big12.

Half wanted big10, but they said fun to a junior membership.

Other half happy with sec

Nothing worse than having to go to lowrents, Manhattan, ames, lubbock stillwater, etc

Now u have tailgating destinations, and places to actual visit in those states .

Too bad Texa$$ ruined the Big 12. Shoukd have just expanded the old Big 8 instead of merging with most of the Texas schools from the Southwest conference.

A lot of good rivalries died because of that shite. I miss playing all the old Big 8 teams.

And? Those games were still always big games until we left for the Big 10. Going to play someone like Texas Tech or Baylor didnt carry the same excitement you got from playing an OU or Mizzou or Colorado.

CFB is better with regional rivalries. The current direction sucks.

That’s right. And Penn State wouldn’t engage in discussions with O’Brien or his agent on a long term contract. So BOB went to the pros as the HC of the Houston Texans.

That’s when PSU hired a 25-14 Vanderbilt HC.

After MSU gave Mel Tucker a 10 year $110 million contract, Franklin wanted a contract extension, which he got. It was for 10 years and $100 million. The PSU AD was lame duck Sandy Barber for Franklin.

Not a good hire for PSU imo.

I think it's an excellent hire. A guy that will never leave and has proven he can build (and rebuild) sustainable programs. He will be very strong with PSU's NIL.

And I hate PSU.

I think he ends up staying TigerHuskers.

We’ll see how this all shakes out.

It’s sure never dull around NU.

I’d love for some good old “T.O.” style dull to be around Lincoln again for a change.
