The #Patriots offensive play-caller this season is "trending in Matt Patricia’s direction" a source tells
@jeffphowe

Patricia was recently fired after a failed stint as the #Lions head coach, finishing with a record of 13-29.

Belichick hasn't named an official OC yet for 2022.

The decision has been between Matt Patrica and Joe Judge.

Patricia has coached defense on the #Patriots from 2006 until leaving for #Lions in 2018

He's now expected be in charge of calling plays for sophomore

I'm convinced that no one is able to bring the Lions back to prominence.

Bet you wouldn't fricking say that to Dan Campbell's face! That fricker will kick you in the teeth, and when you punch him back he's gonna smile at you, and when you knock him down he's going to get up, and on the way, he's going to bite a kneecap off.

Maybe not but Patricia was a bad choice to be a head coach. He'd spent all his time in Bill's pocket. Probaby didn't coord on his own there.

Then he goes to the lions and tries to be Bill 2.0.

This organization wasted away the careers of Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson, guys who are legitimately a top 3 all-time in their respective positions. They wasted their careers so much. Both guys decided to hang it up after 9 years.

No one wants to comment on the fact that Bill just didn't hire an OC this year at all, and is now going to possibly have Patricia, a guy that's been on the defensive side for almost all of his career, call offensive plays?

Is death an option because I’d lean towards that personally

No one has been calling plays yet besides Bill himself at practice. He’s been spending most of his time on the offensive side. Most likely Joe Judge, or possibly Nick Caley will be calling the plays. Patricia has been with the Oline exclusively so that’s likely his role

Not exactly jacked about it or anything but they were starting to put Judge on the offensive side of the ball before he left the pats a few years ago so this seemed to be the plan all along for Bill to groom Judge a bit.

McDaniels also was a defensive coach for his first couple years in NE. Bill likes the idea of teaching young coaches both sides of the hall. Just one of his quirks

Patricia has a lot of experience making offenses look good.

Andy Reid did this in Philadelphia. He took his OL coach and made him a DC after Jim Johnson died.

1. Not sure we ever had an era of prominence

b. Regardless, Matt Patricia was a clusterfrick disaster as a HC in almost every way. It was never going to work with him.

No one pays attention to the Lions, but DC has been doing a lot of good things building this team. Going to be an interesting year.

I mean I would lose a fight to Dan Campbell but he’ll lose a football game to a lot of coaches he could beat up.
