But, you can make a pretty good case that the game itself in college is better.
No fan of the game of basketball would agree with that. CBB is a terrible product on the floor.

Again, only people who don’t really know what they’re watching on the floor like CBB. They are more fans of atmosphere, pageantry, and the college theme than fans of the game.

I don’t know any non-gamblers who watch college basketball games in which their team is not playing

Ask the casual fan to name all the NBA players he can within 60 seconds. The vast majority of players he’ll mention are either in the pacific time zone or injured.

-no loyalty- jumping around from team to team to play with their friends. If I wanted to watch that, I’d go to the YMCA

-too much soap boxing/SJW tendencies
-small market teams basically have no chance

This pretty much nails it.

The NBA has pretty much gone 100% on being about individual superstar players. The teams are meaningless vehicles for the individuals. Barely any attention or social media chatter is about the teams or the W/L records. The vast majority of people who follow the NBA are fans of players, not fans of teams.

It makes for a really boring "sport"

Of course it is. A healthy Zion and a healthy Golden state team would really help ratings.

It is not the only factor but it is one.

Bingo. "Small market teams" are being held hostage by these big markets. What's the point of cheering for a team that has no chance to do anything?

Dubz aren’t a big market team. Neither were spurs. Or Cavs.

Blazers, Thunder and Grizz have been in playoffs regularly and small market.

Current small market teams doing well: Jazz, Nuggets, Bucks, Pacers. T wolves.

This is a tired trope.

Bingo.

The nba can’t really market the defending champion or the Dubz.

They can’t even market a dubz Rapz rematch. When was the last time that the two finalists drew such little interest.

Zion getting injured def hurt big. esp since pels have so many national TV games on ESPN and TNT.

ESPN gassed the hell out of pels preseason which turned out to be pointless

I'm a fan of neither, but I would watch a college game before I'd watch a pro game.

Its really not that talented

There are like 5 players that will make a team win championships and wherever a few of them go its over

It has the worst parity in pro sports in the US by a long ways and its almost as bad as European football leagues

A team with one all star almost took down a team of four. If not for an injury. Super teams can be taken down. You just gotta have a really really special player.

probably not nearly as well as those people who so eloquently justified Chik Fil A stamping The Salvation Army with a mark of shme.

Who the frick wastes time watching the NBA before May?

I couldn't stand watching the Globetrotters more than once every few years.
