And damn...it’s not that bad. The lower body is a little janky, but he release is pretty good

Dude.

It still ain't good.

You can tell he has a hitch from way back and behind. That shite would have looked horrible from the side.

I saw people saying his shot looked better after that first game back.

Hell no. It looks really bad still.

A shot is a fluid motion. He still pauses and sorta jerks in his upper body after his legs start the shooting motion.

ETA: Dude he has a severe head jerk in his shot. Idk if I've ever seen that.

Have y’all seen the practice shots? This is definitely an improvement. Tbh, it all looks like a mental block, like he’s thinking through every single mechanic before shooting

Shot still looks fug. Looks like some bae out there for a halftime contest. Flat as all hell. That's not saying it won't get better, though.

That was a weird upper body overcompensation for a weak lower body.

the fact that he had the confidence to let it rip(granted the time kind of dictated that) is encouraging at some level. I feel for this baw, it’s amazing how much mental shite can frick people up in a primarily physical game

This dude 100% had a small stroke they are all trying to cover up. The sudden change in his shot is definitely neurological. Changing your shot and practicing that for 6 months does not make up for the years of muscle memory he had.

Not necessarily.

I broke my right arm back in eighth grade and was forced to learn how to shoot left handed for 4 months. During that time my mind rewired itself and I forgot so much in such a short period of time in terms of my all around playing style I became a totally different player when my arm healed.

I use to go to the basket before I broke my arm and do more scoop shots right handed and other motions I just totally forgot how to do when the cast came off. I learned to shoot going to the basket looking more at the rim and shooting overhanded with left handed and also right in my cast. I never could duplicate my old style and coach at Ouachita Dennis noticed.

I also never used my right hand to brush my teeth or take out my contacts ever again. Hell I dont even know if I can still.

Mind is very powerful. Very.

YouTube - Smarter Every Day

Here is a great video that demonstrates what you're explaining. First off, y'all need to subscribe to this YouTube channel. It's fantastic.

Spoilers for those who don't want to watch it. This guy's buddies alter a bicycle so that the front tire turns the opposite way when you turn the handlebars. It's basically impossible to ride the bike like that without practice. It takes him 8 months for his brain to figure it out, but finally one day it just clicked.

Someone films the next time he tries to simply ride a normal bike, and he can't do it anymore.

So glad the Celtics got Tatum and a pick instead of him.

I would have rode a wheelie across that stage and took that $200.
