Kelly’s a mediocre coach. I hope MF is great, but not sure yet.
But Kelly benefited by directly following the three stooges of Davie, Willingham, Weis. Made him look a lot better than he is. He’s the losingest coach in ND history, too, not just the winningest. Exactly average in ND winning percentage.
Unlike Rockne, Leahy, Ara, Devine and Holtz, he didn’t win a championship at ND. Unlike Les Miles and Ed Orgeron, he will not win a championship at LSU.

Kelly is just an average coach. He is like a game manager qb but a coach. Good enough to win most games but not he big games unless he gets lucky.

Prior to coming to LSU 99% 9f LSU fans thougt Kelly wss a bad coach.

Yeah that finished the season #13. BK has beat an Alabama team in 2022 that finished #5. BK may have the better win, but ND is trending up and LSU most certainly is not.

Kelly is equivalent to most of Scott W’s hires of football coaches. An overpay for a big name that doesn’t amount to a championship.
Peterson at UW was closest and got a Pac12 title, but got obliterated in the playoffs.
It’s not a shock since his hires as football coaches have a grand total of 1 playoff game under him. A&M was mediocre under Jimbo. Peterson had one year. Sarkisian was a rebuild and then Kelly has nothing outside of beating Bama in 2022.
