This is revealing information and I thank you for bringing this up. Because had Brady not sat out the '08 season with an injury, his numbers would be just as good as Brees's (potentially).

So I fail to see your argument as to how and why Brees is better than Brady.
You are so damn stupid.

How would it change their per game averages?

Well Brees is almost two years younger than Brady so Brady's "missed" season is a wash. Try again bro.

It wouldn't.

Brady has averaged 4,105 yards a season since he began starting back in 2001. In 2008, had he not gotten injured in the very first game and played the full season, as well as thrown for exactly 4,105 yards, he would currently have 65,687 total career passing yards. Drew Brees currently has 66,111 total career passing yards.

All I'm saying is that their total career yards would be remarkably similar.

He also had this gem:
quote:

Everything I need to know about Brees I found out in the 2011 playoffs when they lost to an inferior 49ers team in the divisional round.

Yeah...New England's defense shut down Atlanta's high-powered offense in the second half.

Well I'm glad you can finally admit this

Brady was the most instrumental part of that comeback against the Falcons in Super Bowl LI. To deny this is to court ignorance.

I don't think anyone said otherwise from an individual standpoint, but you can't have 1 without the other. If their defense doesn't keep Atlanta off the field and scoreboard in the 2nd half, it doesn't matter how well he played.

It would. Not sure where that has any bearing here though

The fact is, with only 2 more pass attempts per game, a higher TOP, and same career Y/A shows the talking point of Brees benefits from a gaudy pass happy offense is 100% false

And if Brees played two more years with the saints (to make up for starting later), he'd blow Brady further out of the water

Brady missed two seasons. He didn't start his rookie year and he missed all of '08. And he really didn't start becoming a prolific passer until 2007. From 2001-2006, Brady averaged 3,593 passing yards a season.

From 2007-Present, Brady has averaged 4,438 passing yards per season. So it's a tale of two halves of a career.

Brees is the king of dink and dunk (or king dink for short as a few of my podnas call him). He is living proof that NFL defenses will let a qb dink and dunk his way all up n down the field. Especially when that d is holding a lead. Few Qbs out there have passes that travel less yards in the air than drew.

He routinely is at the top of the NFL in deep passing

But you already knew that.

And have you actually watched Brady play the past few years? I wish we ran more quick passes

No, it wasn't

What do you mean by at the top?

Dink and dunk means a large percentage of his passes are very short. If he is good on long passes.... good for him??.... still doesn't change that he throws shorter passes than almost anyone. (I.e. Where the King dink name came from)

And this whole thread ignores the intangibles that most analysts use to put Brady over the top: namely his leadership abilities, his mental and physical toughness, as well as his ability to win.

Once Atlanta went up 28-3, Brady finished 26-33 for 284 yards and two touchdowns (with no interceptions). Defense or no defense, that is how you spark one of the greatest comebacks in football history - and on the game's biggest stage to boot.

Do I need to pull out a dictionary?

He's routinely at the top of most deep passing yards in a season, meaning this:

quote:

He is living proof that NFL defenses will let a qb dink and dunk his way all up n down the field.

Is laughable.

Good article from 2014

quote:

– Nobody threw a higher percentage of short passes than Tom Brady, though it may surprise some to see the likes of Colin Kaepernick, Joe Flacco, and Aaron Rodgers near the top as well.

Also, here's a good one of the Pats short passing game:
