No point in extending invitations anymore if teams are just going to use it to turn into some circus/political statement.
They are players from other championship teams, pro and collegiate, who chose not to attend the White House event for various reasons.
The previous Presidents were classy enough to not let it ruin the experience for those who wanted to attend. Trump is, again, showing his arse here.

foxnews used pictures of the eagles praying in the endzone as part of their 'kneeling for the anthem' report.
There's only one photo in that clip that is during the anthem and everyone in it is standing.

They may have removed it but they were previously using one of them kneeling in the end zone and praying (and it wasn’t even this year’s team).
Zach Ertz even commented on them using a pic of him praying along with it.

Hey remember when the Vice President showed up to a Colts game and purposely left during the National Anthem? Party of fiscal conservatism wasting money on a political stunt.

The only snowflake I see in this is a President who is still bitter over the XFL not panning out and having a personal issue with the NFL as a result. It’s pretty clear that’s what his beef with the NFL has been over for a long time.

This is supposed to be an honor and a celebration but some players have to make it about themselves and virtue signal at all costs.
Im willing to bet you don't have a single post about players Pre Trump that skipped visiting the WH.
Did you call Tom Brady out for skipping?
Larry Bird
Michael Jordan
Albert Pujols
Jake Arrieta
What about them? Were they not acting like teammates? Were they "one upping" those sitting Presidents by not visiting?
Jake Arrieta skipped the WH because the Cubs visit was with Obama and he's Trump supporter, but I thought the visits were supposed to be "apolitical" in your words?

I get the politics for Trump. Trolling the libs is the raison d'etre for the Trump base. Sure he's mostly doing it because famous people snubbed him, but he gets the benefit of keeping his core base strong.
I for one have decided to happily embrace our spiral into the ridiculous.

I was reading something earlier (maybe on SI?) where there’s a possibility that the Eagles disinvite could help Kaepernick’s collusion case. shite is twisted.

I remember the tax cuts, massive deregulation, and conservative justices being nominated at a record pace.

The NFL is a joke of an organization these days, but so is the US government. Not sure where I land on this one

Report: President wanted to “punish” NFL via tax reform
quote:
Via Joshua Dawsey and Wesley Lowery of the Washington Post, the President “told White House officials they should punish the NFL as part of a GOP-tax plan.”
quote:
Per the report, some of the President’s aides started to research how the league could be punished. One unnamed White House official said that “Trump’s ideas were never implemented and described his orders more as venting.”
quote:
If the President wants to continue to look for ways to hurt the NFL (whether because of the anthem issue or the failure or the USFL or the fact that the NFL never wanted him in the club), the easiest approach would be to attack the league’s broadcast antitrust exemption. This, of course, would require the President to rally enough support in Congress to overturn a law that gives the league the ability to market the 32 teams’ TV rights as one block, preventing (for example), NBC from buying all Cowboys home games and CBS buying all Patriots home games and no one offering all that much for the home games of certain teams that really don’t need to be named because we, and they, know who they are.
