When I think Louisiana high school football nostalgia in the broadest sense, I think of the pre-split days.

It truly was magical how that tiny 1A school in Shreveport somehow had a football team with 80+ players who were bigger and/or faster than everyone they played,

Magical? Hmmmm.

The weird tiebreakers before they instituted the overtime rule. First downs, then # of times you cross midfield, then I forget what after that. Some playoff game in the seventies ran out of tiebreakers and they decided it on a coin flip.

Was with my stepdad that night. Conferred with him today. We were @ ‘79 game. He compared him to Bucky as well. He also said Junior had a neck injury that derailed his career. Vaguely remember that injury.

Notre Dame losing in the Dome 3 years in a row in the early 2000s

Just twice in the dome. The third was in miserable, freezing Independence Bowl Stadium in Shreveport thanks to Katrina.

They caught lightning in a jug in 2000 by beating Redemptorist. Game should have never been close.

For me, it’s this years Chalmette team that reminds me of a Blue Bell commercial “The good ole days are being made right now”

I’ve had more than one person ask me when Dome tickets go on sale

People have high expectations this season…

That’s a little out the box

I’d love to get back to the quarterfinals and I think we’re able to do that though, but further might require a huge upset. Our weak spots are RB and WR as compared to the elite teams

RHS was still open I think it would be doing fine these days.
—not viable in that part of BR

I can see how some would think that but I disagree. Tony's does just fine on the other side of Plank. RHS would pull a lot of people from Central, Zachary and the Felicianas if it were still open.

What could David Brewerton do with a football program at a fully operational RHS right now?

Also remember the 2010 Acadiana-STM semifinal rematch where they got blanked 31-0 by “27 seed” Acadiana

That game was insane. If I remember correctly, that was the Micah Eugene Acadiana team wasn't it? I went to that game. I was also at another great game when West Monroe came to Lafayette with With Barkevious Mingo and proceeded to bitch slap sTm on their home field. WM put Mingo on one side for like the first quarter and everything sTm did was opposite of where he was lined up, and had some success. Then WM let him float and spy, then he made dame near every play/tackle. sTm had no answer.

Yes in state semis in 2000. It was a great game and both teams played well and there wasn’t any trash or bullshite going on. Not sure why ole son is so upset with the Wolves.

Notre Dame defense could really tackle and made every yard hard for the wolves. We drove down the first drive pretty easily and it seemed like the route was on but Pios held us to a FG. Later in the game there was a touchdown dropped in the end zone that would have made it 10-0 and that proved to be the gamechanger because Pios held stayed close just long enough for some magic to go there way

Pretty sure Hebert breaking his leg in the endzone didn't help either. Man that game sucked for me lol

they would win somehow, someway, every time. Ask west monroe.

Byrd losing to them in 2000ish when Brandon Nightengale fumbled out of the endzone with no one around him which would have been a game winning touchdown. think he ran for 300+ that game though.

Yeah, the deep snapper rolled the ball back to Hebert allowing the rushers to break his leg. I believe that one play cost the wolves 2 state titles, that one and possibly basketball, as Hebert was one of the main guys on the BB team as well.
Ironically, a few years later, that same deep snapper was in for a punt out of the same end zone of the dome for LSU versus Oklahoma. Near the end of the game, a similar snap and the game might have been a different outcome for LSU. But this time he made a good snap and Tigers win.
