My son getting older and more interested in football overall, now he’s on the Franklinton Jr High team. All of our home games are live-streamed on YouTube and they do a good job with it, so that helps. If more schools start to follow suit and start live-streaming on YouTube the popularity in Louisiana should only grow from what it already is.

South Lafourche vs Terrebonne tonight.

Terrebonne poising for a deep run. They have over 20 seniors with a ton of playing experience. Going to be a fun last ride for my daughter and all of her dancing/cheerleader friends.

Why didn't they do well when they had all that talent a few years back?

Seems like its always the same issues for teams in the Bayou area minus EDW....

No discipline...

All in all, hope other teams in the area can eventually live up to the same level of play as EDW.

I’m trying to ask this question / figure it out respectfully here:

Can someone explain to me the interest in high school football if you don’t have a kid on a team or don’t live near the school you went to / played for? I played and personally couldn’t care less about HS ball. I watch college and pro football religiously however

I’m genuinely curious and glad that people like it, I just really don’t get it and want to hear what I may be missing about it. Not above changing opinions.

1. It is the social aspect of it. Friends are there watching their kids or nephews and it is a fun end-of-the-week activity that you can bring small children to without drowning in debt.

2. It is great networking if you are in a sales job in your hometown.

3. Nostalgia. The grass still smells the same, the band still sounds the same, and the lights are just a bright as they were 30+ years ago when I played,

4... and this one is more personal, I'm a referee. So I like to keep up with what is happening in the state because if I do well enough in the regular season, I may get to see one of those teams or D1 commits during the playoffs up close and personal.

Many people care because their kids attend that school

Cheering and supporting a team is fun, and my kids are happy when their school wins.

Many people also support their friends who have kids who play.

They did well last year. Beat St. James and Destrahan, lost to Hahnville. Shared the district title. They lost to Chalmette in the first round of the playoffs last year.

They have had talent but it was one or two guys. This team will have more seniors going to D1 schools than probably any other year.

What’s the ratio of grass-to-turf fields in Louisiana? I’ve seen an explosion of turf over the last few years.

I don't debate that, and in my experience I would say its getting close to 33% turf, 67% grass. That would be a fascinating study to complete.

Not gonna lie, wish they would have grass fields.... Looking at the schedule everyone we play this Fall has a turf field..

Hold up... we get 1 grass game

They better do well because after this year, it will probably get pretty ugly based on how the junior high did over the last 2 years.

Turf fields are so damn hot. Majority of people don't realize how much they radiate heat. But when you have 4 schools using the same field, grass fields can't handle it.

I'm sure we have at least one unemployed person on the board who has the time to create a grass vs turf spreadsheet with all schools listed and then compile the data based off answers on this board.

When Isaiah Washington from Haynesville committed to LSU earlier this summer, I pulled up his highlights. Every highlight was on grass, until the end when they played South Plaquemines in the state championship in the Dome.

Coincidentally, I think South Plaq’s field is turf.

actually some turfs are much cooler than others - like 30 degrees difference. the difference being the type of turf, age, infill and maintenance. Other advantages of turf; no watering, cutting, always marked and it because a nearly all weather multi purpose field.

New coaching staff.

Once Brusly realized that their receivers were faster than the Parkview defenders, they just started throwing "Go" routes.
