Blew a 21 point lead TWICE. Up 21-0 4 minutes in the game, also up 21 points to start the 4th I believe lol.

Got a big lead, offense putting up points he didn't even need to stop HL, just sit back make HL drive and kill clock. Instead blitz lb's & safeties off the edge and have HL's little QB just run around them to the outside for quick scores.

since 1985 have the trojans been to the quarters?

In 93 or 94 they did pretty good, not sure how far they went though.

Quarters 88 and 89, and 96. Bob Gros retired in 1994 and that 1996 team was the last of his players. After that it's been all downhill from there.

The 93, 94, 95 teams were good too. Just got the shite draw of getting Shaw 3 years strait in the first round because our district was paired with the catholic league. 1995 CL beat Hahnville for district then lost to Shaw first round, and Hahnville went on to be state runner up.

Hank Tierney has had CL's number, he also beat CL's undefeated team in the Quarters in 1988. That was probably CL's best team ever, they were missing over half their starters with the mumps and only lost to Shaw 28-25.

My father in law told me about that, said they were one of the best HS teams he'd ever seen.

You guys are probably to young to remember when Gros was the Hahnville coach. They lost to CL in district in 68 then beat them in state championship 14-7. He won state again in 1972 at HHS. He left a couple of years before I got there. My dad was friends with him so I knew him pretty well. Great guy but a mean coach.

Dutchtown fired Saia?

I haven't heard anything officially, but there were rumblings down that way a few weeks back.

Dutchtown would not have fired Saia. I know that for fact. There were also rumors that he was ready to leave halfway through this season but they talked him into staying. And then there was a "thanks for the memories" social media post after the St. Amant game, but it has since been taken down.

The community for SL is really starting to push back to Administration in what's the real issue. Or who is exactly is calling the shots. In all honesty, Terry Farmer should still be head coach.

That's the truth. He was a great coach and his style was perfect for SL. He has his team in Arkansas 12-0 right now.

I remember reading an article and his players said they played so hard for him because he they respected him so much, and just didn't want to let him down. I see him around all the time. I'd still take him as head coach today. He was ahead of his time offensively and would fit in perfect nowadays.

Dudley Hillman CL's head coach in that 68 title game was an even bigger hard arse than Gros though from what I heard. He was a WWII Vet and ran his team like the military. He won two titles at Lockport in 63, 64 then Lockport merged with Raceland to become CL.

I was 8 at the time but was on the sidelines for the games as a ball boy ( my dad was asst principal). The guys who played for him loved him despite his temper and toughness. They will tell you today he made better men of them.

i was a ball boy for opponent in 1974 2nd round game at Hahnville - I was 9

and in 1972 I think my uncle's team beat H in regular season.

I think he closed out with a winning record vs him...
