Northwestern St got a big 5-4 win over LSUA yesterday.

and speaking of the NAIA level of Louisiana baseball

LSU Shreveport is ranked #4 in the national poll and is a favorite to get back to Lewiston for the World Series this year

this past weekend took 2/3 in their conference-opening series against the aforementioned (RV) LSU Alexandria Generals (who had a chance to get that game late against NSU earlier in the week)

Louisiana Christian swept a series against 1 of the newest baseball teams in Louisiana... Dillard... then took 2/3 in their conference-opening series against Xavier (NOLA)

this weekend is the Rapides Parish conference-series between LSUA & LCU... which is in Alexandria this year

Crazy game. BYU starter goes 7, allows 2 hits and 9 K's and 1XBH and 0ER. Reliever comes in BYU up 3-1 in B8 GO, HBP,BB, Pitching change, failed pickoff allows runners to both advance into scoring position, single scores 2 to tie it and runner advances on throw home, K, single scores go ahead, and PO. I wonder if the single day off between four game sets will have any effect on BYU's staff, or if last night was their reset. This will be a fun series to watch hope I can get back out to the Tigue again tomorrow night.

would have loved to see LSU play up here. They did when Smoke was coaching as Smoke throwing a bone to his old team.

Cajuns have looked good, and ready to roll.

BYU looks completely gassed, I'm not sure if they will manage to steal one or not with how their bullpen looks with two to go and the way the Cajuns are pitching. I get them wanting to get the RPI boosts and road experience playing LTU and the Cajuns early, but 8 games in 9 days was probably too much to ask. I think they'd have been better off trying to do 7 with dual three game stands in Ruston and Lafayette, and a midweek with one of the Southland/WAC schools in between the two.

Just do not understand why the AD decided to blow up the program.

And then not hire a successful coach.

I don’t understand either. Baseball was the one sport Tulane was always good at.

Hate to see it, but more than that you love to see it.

SLU with some late inning heroics coming back from down 5-2 to win 6-5 and stay perfect on the year.

Iowa beats LSU 12-4. Brecht who pitches for Iowa and I touted earlier was pretty good. He probably made some good money today.

I'm not going to gloat. It's only February...it was 1 game and it's baseball, even 1927 Yankees had a few rough games.

It could be a program defining win for Iowa though. I hope we can build some momentum and have a nice season. The last time we played #1 opponent was in the 1972 CWS... we did not win that game... and we haven't been back since.

Our LHP Brecht who pitched today will be a name to remember for you MLB fans.
