I agree about the Blackhawks logo but now that you mention it how the Hell is it not whined about more often?
A brief history form someone ...
While people are often quick to categorize the Blackhawks’ logo as one of a number of racially motivated epithets in sports, both the team name and the logo were created to honor the rich heritage of Illinois, and the name wasn’t originally a reference to Native Americans at all.
The founder of the team, Frederic McLaughlin, came up with the name “Black Hawks” in reference to the army division he served with in World War I, which was nicknamed the Black Hawk Division. It was this army division that was originally named for a Native American, not the hockey team.
While the team logo is obviously based on a Native American, it is honoring the image of Chief Black Hawk, the Sauk warrior who the army division named themselves after. While other sports teams, such as the former Washington Redskins, used a name and logo that was based purely on a racist trope, the Blackhawks have tried their best to always show respect to the heritage their team came from.
This is why I agree with the team that the logo should stay the same. Perhaps I’m a bit biased, having been a ‘Hawks fan for so long, but leaving my bias out of the argument, the Blackhawks have done a lot to show their respect for the team’s heritage and to hold up the numerous Native American communities throughout Chicago.
In addition, the team has previously acknowledged that some of their old practices were in poor taste, and have taken steps to move away from these controversies. In July, the team announced that they were banning the wearing of headdresses in the United Center during games. These headdresses were widely seen as cultural appropriation, and the ‘Hawks did the right thing in banning them.

Salt Lake City or Kansas City seem like they make a ton of sense, especially Utah.
I know it will never happen but I wish nola could get even a minor league team again.

Not sure if Houston works either bc IIRC the Rockets have been very hostile to sharing the Toyota Center and I don’t think the NHL will around for a new building to get built. If this team moves I bet they move this summer.
Pretty sure this was pre Tillman

horseshite.
No one names their multi-million dollar sports franchise after someone (or some group) they hate.
Regardless of team, those names have always been used as a sign of respect for their nobility and warrior nature.

Would be nice for Houston to have a team in every major sport like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Houston and Salt Lake City won't frick up the alignment like the Eastern markets will. I wonder what upgrades the league would want in the Toyota Center?

Salt Lake...natural rival for Colorado.

Hasn’t atlanta had two chances to get the nhl right and both times the teams left?
I realize this time the plan is for the suburbs, but it seems like a fresh start in another city is a much better option.

Toyota is a little dated and definitely needs upgrades whether an NHL team moves in or not. That would probably be the big hang up on them coming here. I believe Toyota is all good as far as being ready to play hockey in though and the Aeros played there before moving
Is the Coyotes owner actually looking to sell? I assume he would want to hold the team and move it himself. I’m not sure how well Fertitta would play with others in this regard

Counterpoint: WPG/PHX/ATL are intrinsically linked at this point. The Thrashers never should have moved to WPG, it should have been the Coyotes back in 2011. This would correct that wrong, and you already have a built-in fanbase, a new arena on the way, and *two* viable locations temporarily in State Farm and Arena at Gwinnett.
The NHL has done everything it can to make the league work in Arizona. And had it been Meruelo from the beginning, I think it would have been successful. But if Meruelo is going to move the team, he has to know where it's going, which means he needs an arena *now* and potentially one for the future. KC has that. QC has that (but cultural differences make that almost impossible), and ATL has that. Does Houston, without Fertitta being neck-deep in the bid?
Dunno. Important caveat: Meruelo was under a negotiation window to buy the Hawks/Philips about 10 years ago, so he is at least partially aware of economics/demographics in Atlanta.
