You realize the sum total of every person who could fit in both the braves and hawks stadiums is still less than fit into a normal football stadium?
Does over a third of the NFL play in an abnormal stadium? The capacity of Turner Field and Philips Arena would be 20th in the NFL

Obviously by normal he means average

Miami says hi as well, but yeah, ATL is pretty bad.
Ummm, no.
Since 1989 (right after the Heat got the franchise), Atlanta has had better attendance 1 year, the 1997-1998 season.
It is no comparison. Miami has always supported the Heat, with average attendance always a lot greater than Atl. Also, in the 6 years before Lebron in the AA arena, the Heats average attendance was 19k+, 19k+, 19k+, 19k+, 17k+, 18k+. The Hawks have only exceeded 16k once in their entire history. The Heat have exceeded 17k 10 seperate seasons in Miami.
I don't get why some here compare ATL to MIA. ATL has a lot more people but much worse support. That includes football as well. As soon as the Fins put a semi competitive team on the field, Sun Life will be packed ever Sunday.

Yeah, most of South Florida doesn't care about college football.
The Marlins would get support in the new stadium with a decent owner that didn't blow up the entire team every time a player was any good and ready to get paid in a new contract. Worst owner is sports by FAR.

No one cares about the hawks. Surely you didn't just figure this out

I'm in GA now and it's so fricking funny when Hawks "fans" say they are in prime position to get CP3 and/or Dwight Howard this summer.

Why is Tampa immune from criticism here? People like to attack the Jags, but they haven't had a blackout in a few years, while Tampa has multiple blackouts a season. And let's not forget the attendance woes of the Rays and Lightning.

How does a NBA team in the motherland not sell tickets?
if it was the heat, celtics, knicks, bulls, lakers etc it would have been a sell out

Bucs games are awful the away team is usually a 3rd of the fans and even worse when teams from up the north east come.
I always thought the boltz had ok attendance

Atlanta is one of the more transient cities in America. They've never really supported their sports teams very well.
Even in the Braves glory years they had trouble filling the stadium for playoff games.

Then again, you can say the same thing when the Braves was going through their rough spots, also the Falcons as well (Rankin Smith era, nuthin said). The Hawks need a superstar down there and time then attendance will go up. They got all of the tools to get it down this year, let see what happens.

Neither I nor my wife are from here. Most of our friends aren't from here. I walk around my office, /and about 80% of them are from someplace else.

The Dolphins have had multiple playoff games blacked out.
All of those were wild card games and I am pretty sure the ONLY one that actually did not end up selling out was 2002.
From the articles:
quote:
The blackout in Miami occurred when 7,500 upper-corner and end-one seats priced at $64 remained unsold. It is the first time in 17 years that a Dolphins home playoff game is being blacked out locally. The last Miami home playoff game to be blacked out was Dec. 31, 1983, against Seattle.
''We're a little surprised, because we've had such fantastic luck in selling out our games over the past two years,'' Eddie Jones, the Dolphins' president, said. ''On the other hand, Iknow it's the holidays. We're confident that the game will sell out by game time.''
So you lose this one. Fins fans are solid. Wait and see this year. The Fins finally have a team that will be competitive and MIGHT make the playoffs this year and there will be regular season sell outs.
