Pat Beverley isn't a kind first match-up for anyone. Lonzo Ball was utterly useless on the 29 plays that Beverley was guarding him.

In any case, I expect Ball to play better tonight. The Suns play at one of the faster paces in the league and defense is optional.

I agree. Dude is gonna be fine, it's just gonna take him a bit to get his feet under him.

You don't have to. Beverley said as much in his interviews.
Your quote said nothing about Beverley trying harder against Ball than other PGs.

Also, Beverley plays like that against everyone, if you've watched him play.

Players will take whatever they can for motivation. If it wasn't his Dad, they'd shuffle on to the next thing and get the same motivation there.

I pretty much said this exact same thing in the game thread.

If this dude is to be "special," which TONS of people are saying, he'll need to be the most basketball savvy mfer to ever walk earth. He'll need to have the basketball IQ of Magic mixed with Lebron.

Cause he ain't doing shite on athleticism..

They try to be. But they're just not. Does a pitcher throw to another pitcher the same way he would to Stanton?

Did MJ and Pippen guard every player the same way they guarded that one dude in the Olympics who the Bulls signed?

That's not what I'm talking about, that makes no sense.

I just don't get why people who really never watched him play at UCLA are now using the one or two games they've seen him play to make sweeping declarations like this. He is not some uber athlete, but he has fine athleticism. He needs better handles on the ball to really tap into it. He got away with it a lot while at UCLA and during the summer and now he can't

It was his first meaningful NBA game ever and he was guarded by one of the best defensive guards in the league. Him looking rough last night was to be expected

So Patrick Beverley and other guys don't tend to go all out but they're going to go all out vs Ball?

I don't buy that.
I buy it. NBA players def dont go all out in the regular season on defense for most games. They do for big matchups, and now they may specifically do it to Ball

Trash talking equates to trying harder?

Also, they're going to trash talk him, so what?

I mean, I've seen "special talent" thrown around a TON about him. And I watch and he's not some incredible ball handler and he doesn't look all that athletic to me.

What else should my reaction be? I don't care about his line. Sure it's fun to poke fun at, but it's game one. Who cares?

But I can still see the guy move around the court. It wasn't impressive.

First off, you clearly ignored the 2nd part of my post.

So I'll ask again..

Did MJ and Pippen go as hard against everyone they guarded as they did against that dude in the Olympics who the Bulls drafted?

Also, how did the pitcher shite make no sense? Are pitchers as mentally focused and intense when throwing to another pitcher as they are to Stanton?

What about with nobody on compared to bases loaded in a tie game?

"Go at his head" obviously means they're going to be more physical with him than they are the typical NBA player because they think he's soft and they want to make a name for themselves due to him being a media lightening rod.

you keep saying he's a fine athlete. if he was a fine athlete he would have more than 3 fricking points

fine athletes can put their head down and get to the rim. if you get in his chest he's done.
