They have bleachers behind their school now but idk if I can ever see them not playing at Behrman

Yeah, it would be tough to add a lot more stands to that home field they have. They would have to buy out more property on Patterson and also on school side see how much they could squeeze in.

They could also look at a horseshoe in east end zone but that’s far from field.

I agree . If they aren’t willing to up the pay scale then this will continue.. the per game budget needs to be at the very least doubled and probably tripled to get more quality officials so they can retire a few of the older officials that quite frankly can’t keep Up With the game, whether its age or general fitness..

Both fumbles were before any whistle or stoppage. They blew the calls.. plain and simple and it happens but .. burying your head in the sand protecting your own doesn’t help anyone
I hadn't seen the plays, usually when it happens that way it is forward progress issues. and except in dome games they don't have replay help. On 3 levels any officials code of ethics does not allow them to comment about their games or criticize officials at ANY level.

No one wants to address the real issues.

Depending upon if they are registered or certified, and if they have the white hat, they are making $90 -$130 a game.

They get there at least an hour before game. Probably on site 4 hrs. Plus all the time spent pre season and during season at meetings, studying rules, etc.

Probably make $20-$25 an hour.

For that, they have to deal with coaches and fans who dont know the rules. Now they have to deal with people who can watch online, but they don’t get on field replay to fix things.

All that leads to not having enough officials. In many cases your options are a bad official or no official.

It’s even worse at youth level. Some of them flat out don’t know rules. Sometimes they don’t show up. We’ve postponed games this year in multiple sports because the officials just never arrived. Sometimes we got lucky and was told day before no one was coming.

Uhh.... 10-12 hours of Saturday morning training. weekly 2 hour meetings starting in july and going through season. Two hour
s a week looking at film/prepping. we lose money.

as for treatment. I've only had one negative incident at a varsity game and it was handled the next morning by the offending party being banned from the school grounds(nothing to do with me but an official on the crew).

Just like coaching the real problem is at the sub varsity level young coaches and young officials are saying NOPE.... in my varsity game last night you couldn't have heard a fan with a megaphone.... sub varsity they need a filter.

There are plenty of good officials but like on teams sometimes the ball finds the weakest player at the most in opportune times... and for the record twice I have passed on the next level.... Because I like Friday nights.

I’ve always appreciated your insight, it this is a very diplomatic way of saying that the ref screwed up on those 2 plays

Ok.

But we got 1 penalty against Destrehan I think in the first half, they had like 8. It evened out a bit in the second. It was still terrible execution. Look, see the penalty, throw the flag, mark it off and lets go. Stopping play to discuss flags is just not good for how we attack defenses. I cant imagine anyone appreciates it.

CENLA refs are the worse. They are terrible. They are bad at hiding their bias during a game as well.

Every association gets accused of bias either for or against certain schools. I have never been part of a crew where ANYONE on the crew cared who won the game.

Poor mechanics leads to poor positioning and poor calls.

Not to mention in NOLA we have to be there 90 minutes early with some white hats wanting even earlier then that.

Depending on where my game is, kinda varies my time, doing pregame via zoom earlier in week is a big help. With BR traffic issues we sometimes arrive 90 mins early.

All it took was a few too many people being late for games and the 90 came into play.

Half the teams don't show up 90 mins prior.

yeah they're on a roll for sure. very tough team this year. I haven't watched any games, but I hear they have a good running back and QB. obviously other good players as well. I heard they had some big colleges make a pass by their campus last week.
