Are they actually better this year than last?

Hard to say but they're finding ways to win against excellent programs.

Will have to progress a great deal on offense to repeat.

I'm 6-2 and they're taller than me.

Other than the coach.

But I'm just going on a few decades of my own experience.

Find someone else to frick with

Agreed, and they will figure it out. Last year’s offense even with a 4 year starter at QB and playmakers all over took a little while to figure it out. Defense is very solid.

I’m curious as well. Their coach, Jess Curtis, that led them to all their success in the last decade left after the 2022 season. He originally left for Natchitoches-Central, but after only a season, he left Natchitoches for Lafayette Southside.

This is the second year without him. Maybe his absence is really starting to be felt. I think some players followed him to Natchitoches last season, so in addition to a coaching deficit, they might also be dealing with a talent deficit.

They just made a bad hire and will be an average 2A school again soon

Such a weird philosophy for Pulaski. They were a lot better than I thought they’d be from watching film. The game reminded me of Bama/LSU 2019. A lot of people don’t realize how that game really played out. LSU scored 17 points in 90 seconds or so before the half on 2 Tua picks. This one was similar.

WM was up 34-31 and stopped PA on 4th and 13 before a PI handed them a first. PA scored 22 points before WM touched the ball again. They had 3 straight perfect high hop onside kicks and a 6’6” kid went up and got them. WM got it back to 52-47 with 3:30 to go before PA had another 40 yards in penalties give them a TD. Then WM went for it on 4th and PA scored again with less than two minutes to make it look like a completely different game.

They have some great concepts. Man they have guys open on a lot of plays. 30 total flags between the teams made the game drag though. Got home at 1:50.

West Monroe gives up 67 in a 20 point loss. How the mighty have fallen over the years. Guessing they finish 4th in their own district.

The WM football program has definitely digressed over the last decade.

There are some internal issues that has been happening over the last few years.
The current administration at WM is working to resolve those issues.
The current HC walked into somewhat of a 'hornets nest'.
Can the HC, Kevin Davis, bring back WM to an elite level?
That remains to be seen. He has had good success as an OC in Texas.

Anywho, West Monroe falls to a very good Pulaski Academy team 67-47.
The score at halftime was PA 31, WM 27. On-side kicks turned the momentum to PA and they went on to win the game. Here is a fairly good rundown of the game. The local fish wrapper in Monroe does a poor job of covering local sports.

Don't completely write off the Rebels. This was a very good program that WM played against on Friday. Iron sharpens iron. WM is only get better as the season progresses.

WM is dead for the foreseeable future. This is a three win team this year and will not make the playoffs.

The new O coordinator reverted back to 1991 offense, defense is horribly coached and slow as molasses.

Just stating facts about WM. They also have issues with playing daddy ball the past few years. I'm not sure if it's that bad at other high schools but there are a lot of talented kids missing reps so kids with notable last names can get playing time.

West Monroe fans don’t want to hear facts. They have not made deep playoff push in years and will not make a push this year.

This was a massive problem at Ruston for over 20 years. Seems the current coach changed all that.

Ruston cleaned that up the past five years. The current HC also brought in great assistants and probably has the best coaching staff in the state.

Clean - I know you do something that keeps you close to high school sports…

Any opinion on Walker? Blew out Ponchatoula. Beat Woodlawn with special teams and Defense

Not sure if we are good, or competition lacked…

Crazy finish. I bet st Paul's wishes they would have taken a knee and kicked the field goal with no time left instead of scoring a TD
