Right. There could certainly be enough parking at a Rummel Stadium considering you have the high school parking lots... but the local residents would throw a fit and right now they hold sway over the JP Parish Council.

Rummel just doesn't have the stroke to pull it off against the wishes of the neighbors.

Agreed… you can get away with soccer and JV football on that piece of property, but you can’t host Catholic League varsity games there, it’s just too small

I haven't been out there since NOLA Gold took over... did they grass over the infield dirt?

THe problem is you only have really 4-5K seats that are good for football. It would be great to see them build some additional seating where the right field fence is, since it seems like baseball will never return.

State owns it, not JP, and they don't want to put any money into it.

I always thought the Esplanade Mall should be turned down and a stadium built there. Plenty of space.

Or could they build stands for 8K at Jefferson Playground?

Just not a lot of good spots in East Jeff to build another stadium.

Rummel Stadium

It’ll never happen unfortunately.

The neighbors around the school are pricks.

When I graduated in 07, they tried hell and high water to get one. I remember the battle with “No stadium” signs around the neigborhood and students would go and steal them lol

I don’t know who Morgan city is playing , but I’m sure they will complete their perfect season by
Getting blown out by 50.

Pretty sure they won earlier in the season…

Btw they’re off this week

EDIT- on the field they won, but they gave it back due to forfeit

UNO will hopefully build one soon when they vote to add football…

So karr and Curtis are 1 and 2, while the two teams that beat them (Catholic and Zachary) are 3 and 4

Makes sense

These ratings don’t take into account Karr’s forfeits

Is this going to be like last year when BM was a "#11 seed" and wreck people from the bottom of the bracket?

I thought Catholic beat Karr?

But anyhow why is Curtis ahead of Zachary? Or Catholic for that matter

Catholic beat Warren Easton in a close game, maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Correct. I thought they won one game but the standings always says they are 0- all season. So I’m assuming they are done for the year then. They have sucked ever since I moved there in 1979.

Well the stadium at Yenni is owned by the jefferson parish school board and since they were built publics got first crack at Friday's. They neighborhood didn't have a chance to challenge Yenni being built. Yes SLU and Nicholls are giving sweetheart deals to HS teams wanting to play there, great marketing.

There is plenty of parking for Yenni. Some on school property, most of Phlox has parking adjacent. The school will open the baseball/softball complex to parking on big game nights.

On my side of the stadium, it only EVER gets bad with traffic and parking on Rummel game nights. Most game nights you'd never even know save for the lights. What Rummel wanted to do in their neighborhood is build a four story, or higher, parking garage, plus neighborhood parking.

At East Jefferson, the school and the neighborhoods mostly went up at the same time, except for the neighborhoods along Transcontinental.

Speaking of stadiums...

Denham Springs will unveil their "new" (65% complete) stadium this Friday night vs. Walker. The excitement I've been hearing all week should equate to a sellout.

I don’t understand the need for a new stadium there. The old one seemed fine to me.

They wanted All 3 on campus along with some modernization and upgrades that wouldn't fit in the old location.

I wish JP would just turn Shrine on Airline to a football venue

The shrine sucks for football... It's a baseball stadium, the sightlines suck. You have to sit at least 12 rows up to see over the home team.
