When is the new Prairieville High opening?

It was august 2023, but after the drawings came in a million dollars over budget and Hurricane Ida, who knows….

Not really. I mean Will Campbell is a big kid at LT but I don't think they are have any other monsters that I can think of that just jump out at me and I have watched both of their games this year.

I drove by the site in August and all they've done is move some dirt.

With rebids and stuff, it might be 2025.

I can’t believe they are building another separate HS. Take all that money and expand Dutchtown and St. Amant. Constantly dividing administrative resources is such a waste.

Ha. The right tackle is bigger than Will. Not sure how you missed that. Zalance Heard. 6-6 315.

The infrastructure around both sites can't handle that. I know Dutchtown is well over 2500 and St. Amant has to be well over 2000. Two-lane roads and crossing guards are overwhelmed as it is.

The AP government screwed the pooch in their post-Katrina land/money grab. The whole parish floods after heavy rain now because new subdivisions took out the overflow, and Airline Highway, Burnside, and one stretch of 42 are probably the only 4-lane roads in the parish besides the Interstate.

Taking away athletic talent from both schools as well. I wish that we could just build up all 3 schools to fit more kids. The more kids that kept moving in, the better AP athletics was going to become, especially in football. It’s like no one school can ever be better than the other

if y’all aren’t keeping the best kids though, y’all have a ceiling no matter how many kids go there

Well now that Gabe Fertita is gone, more kids will start staying in AP for football again

your mistake may be thinking it had to do with Fertitta. There’s every possibility that they’ll keep going out of your parish because it’s Catholic or U-High no matter the coach. The big schools in BR get who they want and that’s someone y’all have to deal with

It was really just a shot at Callic High. I know about those issues, and they’ve been there way before Gabe, but AP has started to get better athletes to stay, instead of going to some private school in BR. Has a lot to do with who the coaches are. Like a lot of kids who could have went to St Amant to play baseball, went to Catholic, U-High, Dunham, etc because a lot of people didn’t like that coach at the time. Now with a new coach, and a reenergized program, some kids are beginning to just continue on to St Amant, instead of going to a private school in BR to play baseball, because they like the coach, and the direction the program is going.

Not counting the west side of AP... has any AP team made it past Q finals or been a factor on a state wide level? I mean SA has still yet to win a road playoff game

I know St Amant has been to the quarters 3 times. Nothing past that. Dutchtown might have, back in the Landon Collins and Eric Reid days. They were really good then. EA might have, but I’m not sure. They've been around the longest. I’m pretty sure it does say that Gonzales High School won a state championship in like the 50s or sometime around then. I saw that scrolling through a state championship program one year. I don’t know if that would count though since Gonzales High School doesn’t exist anymore.

Correction, it actually says St Amant lost to Ferriday, in the 1A state championship game in 1956, 13-0. Would love it if someone had any info about St Amant high school in those days. The St Amant High School of today was founded in 1978. I hear people talking about the old St Amant Wildcats, don’t know if that was the team those people are referring to.

In 1991, EA made it to the semis against Neville. A very promising drive down the field for a game winning FG that would have put them in the dome for the first time was thwarted by an inopportuned interception.

And then there's Benny Saia, formerly at Dutchtown, who's teams put four players in the NFL within 10 years never sniffing the dome.

Yes, they will put him in on obvious short yardage situations. I think he got 1 or 2 snaps on D against Ruston.

Saia was barely functional on his best day. I have no idea how he got that job.

He has in previous years but he hasn’t so far this year. They may be waiting for the weather to cool before pushing him both ways. Plus he seems to have started reading his press clippings a little too much. He season so far hasn’t been too impressive
