They done closed down a ton of class B and C schools in north LA.
Seems like a legit way for more southern schools to win something.
Class B and C should concentrate on baseball and basketball.

It will be voted on in the classification meetings. Therefore, only A, B, and C schools will vote on it.

If B and C could vote on what happens in the football playoffs, why cant the other classes vote on what happens in B and C?

My dad who use to be on the LHSAA exec committee told me about this sunday. Said alot of the B schools aren't going to be happy about this mainly because the ones who chose to remain just basketball, will have to wait a little longer before they start practice.

They will still be considered non football schools if they play 8 man football. If this passes, they will still be able to start at the same time as they did previously.

it's probably meant for C schools...
if B schools were playing football, they'd be playing 11 man since that's what 1A plays and they're the same size

I thought this was pretty common in Texas and Virginia

if there wasn't a split, we wouldn't forget who wins state championships 20 minutes after the game

What's the D run in this usually? 5 up front 3 in the back?

A lot of B schools are bigger than 1A schools. But you can't be 1A without football.
I know this because I went to a B school

They do it in Texas and Oklahoma. It will give the kids that want to play a chance cause their school doesn't field enough boys to make a 22 kid team. Give them a chance for glory.

It's been quite awhile, but from what I remember there wasn't much passing at all, almost everything was running. Which led the offense to play with the tight ends on the LOS. Which practically led to the defense playing a 4-3-1 or 3-3-2 depending on down and distance. No team ever kicked XP's, always went for two. The thing I remember most was having 11 players on the entire team, one of those each year was a foreign exchange student, which was always the kicker. Lol

Way back in the day, there was 7-v-7 football in high school too. So, in some respects, this is the way it used to be.

When we moved to Montana from Ascension Parish , Louisiana, i had only heard of 8 man football which is what my son played when we moved here. Then his junior year , we dropped down to 6 man football. IMO, it gives those kids a chance to play that otherwise would never get to play because the schools are so small that you dont have enough to field a team. The games are quite entertaining and you have some basketball scores for games but I believe that the smaller schools in Louisiana will really enjoy as well as the fans. Now here in Montana, the field is only 80 yards long and you have to go 15 yards for a first down as opposed to the normal 10 yards. Hopefully , it will pass and more boys will at least have the opportunity to play.

ive played 8 man the past 4 years for my high school. pretty simple and I actually like it a lil better. faster paced. just depends I guess.
offensively you just have to have 5 guys on the LOS so you can come up with a lot of formations. my team was a power running team so we usually went out of the I with a center 2 guards and 2 TEs. You could also run the spread if you wanted to. have your TEs split out as WRs and your RB and FB split and you have 4 wide outs. though if the defense your playing rushes 4 your screwed. you can be really creative with it.
defensively my team ran mostly a 3-3-2 but there are a lot of different ways to play that too. and we were one of the few teams that had a kicker so we did kick extra points.
field wise it doesn't really matter. we played on a 80 yard field for home games (we were on a baseball field so that's all we had room for) also played on full 100 yard fields and for nationals we played on 80 yard fields that were narrowed down too. don't remember how narrow though.
