Everyone in that bracket got a tough draw. North DeSoto, Cecilia, Opelousas, Jennings, Lutcher. The winner of that bracket will easily win the Championship
Don't forget about Plaquemine. They are now the highest remaining seed in that half of the bracket.
They just handily beat one of the semifinalists from last year(Northwest). Won't be an easy game for Opelousas next week.

That’s got to be tough for the coach of Dequincy.

That’s the end of my older boys football career. It honestly happened in the blink of an eye. My younger boy is only 4th grade so we got a ways to go for him to play.
It does go by quicker than we would have ever thought it would. Our oldest is about to be 22, our youngest is 11. Hopefully he makes the 7th grade team at the end of this school year.

First time since 1988 Bunkie plays in the quarters
Wow!!! Not that it’s been that long, but I just looked up that playoff run.
Bunkie won that quarterfinal game by nearly twenty points to advance to play defending champion Jonesboro-Hodge in the semis. J-H would go on to win two more titles for a 3-peat, However, Bunkie had them on the ropes that night until….
Wow
Were you around then? What was the reaction in town?
*Summary:
After traiing at half, Bunkie was moving up and down the field in the second half, and running for chunks of yardage on every play. J-H couldn’t stop them. Bunkie’s wishbone attack was on fire.
Bunkie led by three with under a minute left. J-H was deep in Bunkie’s territory facing a 4th and short. J-H coaches are debating whether to try a tying FG or go for it, and they get hit with a delay of game while making a decision.
Now it’s too far to go for it, but the penalty also pushes the yardage outside of their kicker’s range. So, Jonesboro pulls a guy off the bench with a stronger leg, but hasn’t attempted a single FG all season. He barely makes it with a few seconds on the clock. Headed to OT…
…except Bunkie still had 15 seconds. Instead of taking a knee, they throw a screen pass. Incomplete, but it was nearly intercepted, and it would have been a pick-6. Bunkie was a wishbone team, not a passing team.
Bunkie barely avoided catastrophe, so surely they would take a knee on the next snap. Nope, they attempt another short pass to a RB. This time a J-H player reads the play, breaks on the ball, and time expires as he’s racing untouched for a walk-off pick-6.

——
The score was 19-16 before that. Take a safety while running the clock out. Elementary football there.

Yes I was in the press box. All we had to do was kneel the ball and go to OT. JH players were exhausted. No way they win in OT. We got greedy. The call was actually a hook and lateral and they jumped the route. Rumor has it that after the first incompletion that the OC yelled run it again.
On a side note Bunkie dropped an INT in the end zone before the tying field goal.

Lot of people wondering same about Airline QB not receiving bigger offers. Maybe NSU is where he wants to be? Not interested in others? Kid is fun to watch.

No one truly wants to play at NSU

Still think the game passing Curtis by?
You have to admit the regular season was well below their standards. They played very well last night.

How well do you guys expect the LCA fans to travel the day after Thanksgiving to Baton Rouge?

Yes, I haven't watched Plaquemine this year, but after seeing their schedule and results, they could very well make it to the dome and win. I was actually thinking about them earlier today.
The game vs. Opelousas will be a war. I see Opelousas winning 21 - 19.
I don't think Cecilia can beat North DeSoto, they just don't have the defense to do it. The score would have to be 55 - 54 for Cecilia to win that game.
But, they have scored 50 and 49 in the playoffs on the road, so anything can happen. The team that has the most turnovers will lose this one.

The same thing was said last year when Opelousas was taking on North Desoto. I think Cecilia pulls it off 42-35

They will have to score more than 42 IMO to win this one, but I hope so.

I’ve beeen saying it. Opelousas is a tough out. Their game is sound, physical and simple. They do what they do. Watched Neville, Ruston, West Monroe and Opelousas plays a more repeatable physical brand of football than either Ruston or Neville. West Monroe played us similarly
They can take away what you wanna do. Last night ASH ran basically two plays all night. Evangel was helpless. You can’t do that against Opelousas. Yes they had some early losses. But I like their game

2nd round refs must have been trying to work their way to the NFL. They were terrible in multiple games from what I'm hearing.

I thought we had a good crew last night. I did think they missed an illegal forward pass but if that’s your only complaint (I may have been wrong) you better be happy.

Their only losses were to Alexandria and Teurlings. Teurlings has a very good team and I expect Alexandria to be in the dome, so they weren't bad losses.
Cecilia's 3 losses were to St. Augustine, Central of BR, and Opelousas by 1 pt. They actually scored 35 pts against St. Aug. I stil don't understand how the power rankings put them at 18.
The way to beat Opelousas is to jump on them early and get at least a 10 pt. lead. If they get a 10 pt lead, you can forget about it. They will just "run" the clock out.
