That makes sense. I had my football blinders on.
LCA let the coaches from all the sports vote and every sport but football voted to go back down. Football wanted to stay at 4A level.

It was a coach's vote. Unfortunately, LHSAA does not allow you to play up in only 1 sport. My understanding is that football voted to stay 4A. I am a bit surprised Girls Basketball voted to play back down if what I hear is correct. Where did track, soccer, and volleyball seed? I must admit I mostly follow LCA football and basketball these days.

Track soccer and volleyball are in a whole different setup for playoffs and districts I’m not sure how that works. There’s no select and non select in those sports

They won't have any trouble in their district. Anyone that says Notre Dame would be competitive is delusional. They will have a ton of running clock games in the future. Even without Johnson, I believe they'll dominate 2A
